I think we should all take a moment to reflect on the sad loss of The People's Princess:

    Diana, Princess of Wales

Even ten years on, the entire British Nation is in mourning on the anniversary of her tragic demise. I was unable to post yesterday as I was too upset and it would have felt inappropriately frivolous. She was a shining beacon of beauty and kindness and an example of True Royalty whom we should all attempt emulate in this dark age.

I think she was truly special,so special I told my daughter that she should use Diana as a role model.

I was in shock when I heard she had died, and felt it was a great loss not only for the British people but for the world.

    WHY?

Exactly WHAT did Diana do in her life that "we should all take a moment to reflect on her sad loss"? I'm sure many other people died in that year so please do tell why any nonrelative needs to take a moment to reflect on Diana's death.

Did she cure some horrendouse disease? NO

Did she cure world povery? NO

Did she develop an innovative instrument/technique? NO

    Was she an adulter? Yes

Was she on welfare most of her life? Yes

The world would be a whole lot better off if there were fewer people with the irrational desire to worship other humans. Religion is a crock but the commandment "thou shalt not worship false idols" definitely has a logical basis....

Like my dad once told me, "if you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all". I remember it like it was yesterday, and I still feel the slap he gave me, right before he uttered those wonderful words. :D

Sorry guys, I think this lost something in translation. The post was meant as satire.

While Diana was obviously a devoted mother and a terrible loss to her sons and family, the outpouring of self indulgent, mawkish, vicarious 'grief' over her death was appalling. People who had never come within a mile of this rather disturbed woman started acting as though they had lost their nearest and dearest. Suicides and self harm went up.

One risked lynching by suggesting that she was less than perfect or that there might be more important things going on in the world. The two young princes and Diana's family have my sympathy but she is long gone and the unseemly behaviour of a large proportion of the British public still makes me want to shake them. I had had enough of it about 12 hours after her death and the 10 year reprise was largely media invented and sickening.

Miss. Cat the problem is that what you wrote is tooo on the mark, and is completly believable. Maybe we colonials arn't use to dry British wit,and humour. ;)

Good to see you're a bit of a Republican (not the U.S. type) then.

I thought so, but I couldn't be sure enough.
Worship of lazy, fornicating cousins is sick. This Diana cult and the larger Cult of Royal Lust is a mental illness you Brits really need to exorcise. Only then will you be taken seriously as a modern country.

Diana was a trashy woman who did a few nice things because she had to, and developed a following because she had a fancy title and could afford to make herself beautiful. She died like a jet setter living the fast life. Big deal. It's sad she died, but there are thousands of greater losses every day. May she remain the subject of tabloids, and otherwise be forgotten.

Miss Gomezcat, I too missed the satire, perhaps because the American media keeps telling us how much the British loved her.

The whole thing is a complete embarrassment. Rich woman with Borderline Personality Disorder dies in car crash and the whole f***ing country acts like they've lost all of their family at once. Worst of all, I didn't have cable and all that was on telly for a couple of weeks was sodding Princess Diana.

Is any of the media pointing out the absurdity of it all?

Again we agree Patters, whenever the womens (Diana) picture comes on the TV I have to change channels, I would rather watch a good Diarrhea Commercial.

There is also something else just as disgusting, watching pictures of that Goofy Prince Charlie and Camilla Bowels, what a pair they make, Princess Bowels looks like a Bag Lady with teeth.
