If you get kicked out of Gillette, the penalty is a big one

Re: If you get kicked out of Gillette, the penalty league-wide is a big one

This isn't about being a jackass. People get ejected for smoking and other things that should be non-issues.
You're right, that should be a non issue: you know the stadium's non-smoking, so don't smoke.

My family had season tickets for 35 years and we bagged em in 2008. I was only going to 1pm game since I can't stand the prime time and 4 pm games anymore.

I'll take my 55", smoker and grill, and my friends, thank you.

Re: If you get kicked out of Gillette, the penalty league-wide is a big one

They did have designated areas where people could smoke. I don't smoke but a friend of mine that came to a game with me does. We would walk out to the area allowed and he'd light one up. Did they do away with those areas?

No, they still have smoking areas. Went to the Springsteen concert there last night (smoking in a different way! He was awesome and I had seats on the field. Very cool to look up and see where I usually sit!!) with a smoker and she was able to find an area to light up on the open part of the concourse or ramp as usual. There was also a younger guy who lit up in the row in front of me. The guy next to me asked him to put it out (his wife became very agitated - maybe she is allergic to smoke?) and he did, no questions asked and nobody thrown out. See, we are still cool in NE.

No. They don't. You just got away with it at a concert.

Gillette Stadium to go smoke free

So because they're so health conscious, no smoking allowed at all. My question is...will beer swilling fans be allowed to still give other team's desserving fans concussions when tailgating, or does the CBA or Goodell's office have a memo prohibiting this time honored tradition?

Thanks for the heads up peeps so I can prepare in advance to spend the rest of my life in various re-education camps.

Thank you for getting me 1 step closer to getting my ticket!

I'm all for controlling and if need be the removal of fans who are truly out of control. What concerns me is what THEY consider "out of control". I've been told not to yell by stadium staff and it was on third down and the D needed all the help it could get. I was not drunk, or fighting, or swearing, or smoking, just yelling... along with the other 25% that yell to make life harder on the opponents offense.

I've been to other stadiums (Dallas comes to mind in 2007) where team/stadium staff are orchestrating the yelling!

From the article:
So, for lighting up a cigarette, they have to take a $50 course on how to be a good fan. Screw that. I'll watch the game on my big screen tv, listen with surround sound, and eat and drink the foods I like at a cost that won't be rivaling a car payment.

Most tailgate eating the foods they want that were bought where you buy your food - the grocery store.

Staying home or going to the games, both have advantages and disadvantages.

This. I don't care what anyone says, moments like the AFCCG missed field goal last year, nothing can come close to what it was like in that stadium.

I had three co-workers who were at the snow Bowl game against the Raiders in 2001. I couldn't wait to see them the next day at work, just so they could tell me how awesome it was to be there. When I arrived and two of those who attended were sitting there but not talking, I knew something was up. Both of them left in the third quarter. Luckily, the third fan stayed and I got a first-hand account of what it was like to be there.

Over the years I've had some horrible experiences in the old place, but things are much, much, much, much better now. The new idea is a little too big brother-ish for me though.

...especially hypocritical when they prompt you to get loud on the scoreboard.

I used to love attending Patriots games. I saw many games at Fenway Park and two of the most memorable against Buffalo (Cookie Gilchrist - Bills, Joe Bellino - Pats) and San Diego (Ernie Ladd, John Hadl, Lance Alworth). Yes, my father took us (12 and 13 years old), and the games were fantastic.

I remember going to a Pats game at Fenway and seeing Ernie Ladd warming up by slamming his pad-less shoulders into the padding of the goalpost in right field. I can still see those goal posts waving back and forth.

Your husband needs a reality check. He could be going to the games instead and free you up to bake pie -- best of both worlds. ;)

I have a great recipe for a Pear/Raspberry pie.

And for those with more subtle taste buds, I have one for an apple pie with cheddar crumb topping.

If my wife read this post she'd get a big kick out of it.

I agree 100%. It seems the stadium is going through the motions. They don't want you to get too loud because the 200's are getting touchy. The working class is getting rowdy again, and Blaire and Kendall can't enjoy the crisp New England Autumn day that they flew in for.

The scoreboard should read "Talk amongst yourselves!".

The whole point is who is defining unacceptable behavior and more importantly, what is their definition (not what you think or assume it will be) of it. In 5 years I don't want to have some dork in an orange jacket walk up to me with a dB meter and hand me a $50 ticket and be escorted out of the stadium.

"Hello, Sir? We are glad you enjoy our team, but it is required that you use indoor voices at Gillette please. You are technically indoors now. Here's your assessment charge. Please walk this way..."

WTF?!

I am with ivanvamp. This not enforceable unless you're a season ticket holder. Yeah they can try and use face recognize but I believe that would be expensive. Plus if you just wore sunglasses and a hat there is zero chance you would be recognized with the tens of thousands of people swarming to the arena.

I usually go to a game a year. I love going to see them live. Yes it is amazing being there in person but it is expensive and instead of it being a 3 hours commitment to watch a game it is over 6 hours. After that one time going to the game I am all set with seeing them live for the year.

My cousin got kicked out of Gillette during the Denver playoff game. Apparently, he set himself on fire with a grill. Stumbled into it or something. Oh, and he resisted arrest. I wasn't there but I am positive alcohol was involved. He is banned from Gillette for life.

I guess he could have benefitted from one of these classes? Oh well, carry on.

Where you been Bella? Sorry about your cousin, but I LOL'd. And I have a couple just like him. Sounds like he's lucky to be alive...

You don't get tailgate food inside the stadium. You get the overpriced stadium food.

If you're still hungry by the time you get into the stadium, you're not tailgating enough. Anyway, there are some very valid reasons to stay at home and watch the game on a nice, big TV. The fact that ejected fans have to watch a video to be allowed to come back is not among them.

As a season ticket holder, if I get kicked out or anybody using my tickets get kicked out, I lose those tickets.....I think that is a much bigger penalty than this stupid course.

You and I don't agree on the implementation of heavy-handed tactics by those in charge, particularly when they are needless, overly intrusive, or both. You seem to like them. I despise them.
