Whats next for the players and the team to accomplish? How can Bill keep serving this team humble pie after this season if they go undefeated ? How do the returning players get motivated to play after going undefeated the previous year? Whats left for these players and coaches to prove next season?

Well how about 22-0 spanning two seasons? That would break their own record for most consecutive wins spanning multiple seasons. That one is at least on the horizon. 36-0 might be a stretch.

If I've learned anything about the psychology of BB and this team, they don't think that way. They don't think like we "normal fans" do, as in what is left to accomplish next year?

They will approach is exactly the same way--start at 0-0 like everyone else at the bottom of the heap; overall goals for next year are the same --win the AFC East, get playoff seedings, and advance to and win the SB; process will be another vintage BB--focus on the next game at hand; win 'em one at a time, they won't be to go 16-0 again specifically. I used to think this was just PR speak, but now I realize they actually, truly think and behave that way.

    - 3peat
    - 6 rings for the franchise

itll be fun if we win sunday and are then able to retain moss. people will be wondering when is this team going to lose a game

The Patriot Legacy. Tell them "do you want to be remembered as the consensus greatest dynasty of all-time?"

Remember, at the begginning of this season, i doubt any player was striving for 19-0. so its just a bonus

after the 2003 season when they wont the super bowl, they came back 14-2 and won it again.

there will be some new faces next year that will want the ring, and Brady knows what its like NOT to be in the super bowl, and he hates it

i said it after he won in 2001, that he will want to be back more than anyone...cause thats all he knows...is super bowls...

If they dont go to the Super Bowl and win it next year... i wouldnt want to play them in 2009, cause it will be the same aggression to win, that you see this year

After the '72 SB one of Dolphin players said they hoped for an even better season the following year. A reporter asked how that would be possible, he replied we could win all the preseason games too.

Brady said it best before the season - each season, each team has its own identity. The 2008 Patriots will be a different team with new contributors, but primarily the same core of players.

Honestly, if the Pats win this SB, I will be satisfied with savoring it for a while without thinking about what comes next.

One of my regrets about the Sox winning the World Series this year was that the Hot Stove, with A-Rod and Lowell and Santana, started immediately thereafter (and actually, during game 4 because of that douche bag Boras). There wasn't enough time to bask in the glory.

If the Pats win, I'm going to do a lot of thinking about 2007 before I think about 2008.

Amen...that is defnitely the way the team operates. However, before the season , i think players evaluate what is happened / what is left to accomplish / what to do. I can see a Bruschi / Seau / even Harrison retiring! L
    * Harrison has gone thru incredible injuries (torn knee / shoulder???/ A LOT OF SH*TTY injuries!) that it is easily possible
    * Bruschi has doen it all & the pressure of family to retire (was there throughout the stroke ordeal) ... got it all (4 rings)
*Seau = too old to keep it going..will already have had his ring..

Someone will say something to make them feel disrespected again. They're 18-0 and feel disrespected today, it'll happen for next year too.

Regarding retirements, I think Troy will go and I think it's at least 50-50 for each of Bruschi and Seau that they'll retire. I don't see Harrison retiring though.

If the Pats win this year and in 2008, they would:

    - Be the first team to win 5 SBs in a decade.
    - Be the first HC/QB combo to win 5 SBs.
    - Match the Steelers' 4 SBs in 6 years.

And that would set up going for the unprecedented 3-peat and 6 titles for one franchise in 2009.

    Regards,
    Chris

"The pursuit of perfection leads to madness, the pursuit of destiny leads to triumph"

    Who said that?

No one, it's mine, pretty sweet huh? Keep it.

Matt from Joe's Diner commercial. Love that episode.
