I'm thinking today...What is the possibility if both of those guys hang them up we see Belichick move Vrabel/Adalius to the inside, Colvin along with a FA addition for the outside? It would make sense to add a good pass rusher. Both Adalius and Vrabel would be able to keep the ILB position healthy for at least the next 2 seasons. I was just wondering anyway, sound like a plan?

I think Seau could make a move to the Chargers and make a run with them.
If Brandon Siler is still not over his 7 round slide they may be able to use Seau .. who knows .. anyone who thinks his heart is still not with that team is crazy and he has another year left in him.

    No Jersey Selected

I think that would be OK, but only as a last resort. It's a poorer use of each of their talents to stick them in the inside, I think.

I don't think they'd do that, Vrabel was having a great year until Colvin got hurt; however, playing along it looks like Arizona LB Calvin Pace will hit free agency. Him and Colvin outside, Vrabel and Thomas inside is . . . interesting.

I think it is time for Seau and Bruschi both to retire. It is time for us to bite the bullet and go through the growing pains of bringing in new fresh blood with some legs.

Both guys can still play. The loss of Colvin really hurt the defense.

If they get a chance at Gholston at pick #7, they should jump at it. Dan Connor is also a possibility, as he is said to compare favorably with Urlacher and is a better prospect than Posluzny supposedly. He'd be a trade down pick. I don't think they'd go there with #7. Vanderbilt's Goff (ILB) with the 2nd Round pick is possible as well.

All of those just flesh out the LB rotation. But they also need CB help. It never ends.

Pace is the same size as AD so that would be one big LB corps.

After seeing AD play more aggressively in the 4th against the Giants, I think he gets more reps outside.
With Colvin, Vrabel, AD, and a good LB acquisition they could have a deep 3-4 lb corps that would have more flexibility to play some 4-3 with AD becoming a pseudo DE like DeMarcus Ware.

Seau to the Chargers would make him the NFL's Charles Barkley chasing that elusive ring.

After seeing faster, more athletic teams give our offense trouble late in the season, I hope BB & staff realize it's time to move in that direction. Our 3 man d-line needs more speed behind it.

I mentioned Pace in a separate thread. I think he will be approached, particularly if they decide to part ways with Colvin. I'm hoping they can restructure his contract.

I would love to see Vrabel/Colvin/Pace on the outside, AD/Seau/?Lua on the inside. AD has the ability to cover better than Seau or Bruschi.

What would it take to pry Tatupu away from Seattle?

A boat load of cap space that the pats do not have. You guys have alot of people to sign and are going to be lucky to keep half of your UFA's.

These guys do not need to retire. They just need to be relegated to backup duty instead of starter duty. Both are solid in limited roles and understand the scheme better than any other LBs available.

I think Seau sticks around and Bruschi retires.

I think both stay with the team and get relegated to spot duty throughout the season. They're motors still run high, and they're great leaders on the field and in the locker room.

I doubt the pats pay these guys alot of money to be spot duty seriously. The pats orginization needs every bit of cap space to be used for players who are gonna get the job done. I think at this point bruschi and seau are not that effective anymore you guys need young strong talent at those spots.

You expect 2 free agents and a 6th rounder to produce two permanent starters?

It would be nice, but pretty risky not to have some other plans too.

They need to keep playing special teams and shine when they get the chance.
