If no CBA...Will there be a 2010 Draft?

With many of this boards members talking about trading 1 or multiple picks into next years draft it brings to memory that I heard several times that if next year were uncapped (no collective bargaining agreement in place) then there would be no draft.

Can anyone confirm that this is true or false?

If true, then the "trade some into next year argument would seem ridiculous?

This would also seem to reinforce the idea of trading up this year to get the special player(s)

Thoughts?

The draft would end in 2012.

The current CBA runs through 2010, the uncapped year is a part of this CBA. Further, I believe the draft agreement is in place through the 2011 draft, giving the NFL and NFLPA time to address future drafts in a separate agreement if the CBA talks don't cover it or break down.

As mentioned above, the 2010 draft is definitely safe.

If there was year without a draft, I think it would be a disaster of biblical proporitions like the one Bill Murray describes in Ghostbusters (2:05 in)

Couldn't the NFL continue to have a draft, regardless of the CBA?
For example, they had a draft prior to there being an NFLPA.

My understanding—and I freely admit I could be wrong—is that they must have a CBA in place in order to avoid anti-trust violations.

I guess the 2013 draft would be stacked

Honestly through, would the 2013 draft have to be 12 or 14 rounds?

Lets just hope it never gets to that point.
