If Moss and Samuel sign elsewhere for 9+ Million...

I get what you're trying to do, but, as far as I'm concerned, there's still no excuse for not franchising Moss if they didn't have a deal worked out.

As someone else pointed out, it might have been in the contract that they wouldn't. Or, for that matter, as someone said, that he might hold out if he were franchised.

In any case, there has to have been a reason why they didn't franchise him, and I don't think it's stupidity or arrogance.

Look, he hasn't signed anywhere yet, and there aren't any good solid rumours that he is going to... so lets trust in BB, Kraft, and Pioli to make the right decisions.

You don't let star players go to collect compensatory draft picks.

sure you do ... you get comp picks and $$$.
The biggest fallacy in sports is you need to get something in trade.
many times the $$$ saved is better spent on another FA instead of your own. The comp picks keep you under the cap when you get to pick them.

Right now, Asante will get the Pats a 3rd round comp pick in 2009, so that really won't help in the short run.

The same goes if Moss leaves.

We could rebuild the LB's with those 2 picks ... range is about right for BB's wallet.

i would pay moss up to 8m a year....no more then that...

let him get the rest elsewhere....but i had rather have him

Ayuh.
But i'd go to 8 1/2 - real money.

Don't worry what the guaranteed is.
But a BIG CHUNK of the rest should be LTBE incentives.

You're not alone. So far, I'm liking the direction we're going in. If we sign Moss, then we sign him. If we don't, the team must go on.

I'm certainly not in line with the panic crowd but...

What direction have the Pats gone in so far that you are liking? Is inactivity a direction?
