Re: If both Moss and T.O. retire at the same time ....
I don't like that Moss and TO are lumped together. Moss's issues in the past were largely maturity (in Minnesota- meter maid, mooning, etc.) and frustration in Oakland. I don't think Moss is or ever has been a bad teammate, only a guy who wanted to win so much and was in a poor spot. I think to what Tommy says about Moss and how he really is one or two steps ahead on the field, and then factor how Oakland is about 20 steps behind, and think of him out west like Doogie Howser riding the short bus. The acting out makes sense, and that theory is sustained based on his behavior here. The winning environment was all he needed, further proven when Tommy went down and Cassel had an adjustment period where Moss wasn't the focal point of the offense, yet he still hustled, blocked and led by example. Moss is a "win" guy, not a "my numbers" guy. He reminds me more of Corey Dillon in that regard.
TO, on the other hand, is me-first, calls out teammates and acts ridiculous even in "good" situations. He was on a Super Bowl caliber team in Philly and blew his situation up for no reason at all. His relationships always end up strained and he alienates his teammates. He was a great player who handicapped his team with his mouth and attitude. Could you imagine TO trying to play in an offense with Wes Welker getting 100+ catches a year? It would be chaos.
As for the HOF, I think Moss's perception has changed. He'll continue to dominate here for a few more years, clock a ring or two, and be firmly established as a top 2 WR of all-time. TO will get in for sure as well, but may have hampered his ability to be a first-ballot guy with his attitude.
