I think in the past they were able to move the space to next year using some sort of logic if Spann throws for 3000 yards this year he'll get 3.9 million otherwise it will move to the year after.
No, the logic remains the same and it's use it OR move it or lose it. You move it by adding LTBE incentives that are actually totally not likely to be earned to a select few player contracts although they may have to be pending UFA's or players you know you can cut for it to work seeemlessly as a pure rollover.
So unless you can locate a player who can seriously impact this season it makes little sense to be adding an expensive part now when that money can be better used to add an expensive impact player in 2009.
I don't see TE as a big need and I suspect Tony Gonzales saw Watson waving his arms alone in the end zone while we failed to score. A contender is not the way I would view that.
