Edelman was on the field the first offensive play of the game, along with Hernandez Gronkowski and Lloyd. How is that not starting over Welker?

I'm sorry, I meant to say we're very clutch. The most clutch team in all of football. We proved it today, just like we proved it two Super Bowls against the Giants. Is that better.

Meh......I'm going to chalk this up as a collective bad day.

I am a little concerned about the offense. I'm hoping it is a slow start due to a lack of reps during the preseason or something.

I'm also concerned about what may look to be the first major signs of Brady's age.

I await andy's response. My guess is that Welker's health is not at 100%. As with Cannon/Vollmer, Welker and Edelman have been essentially sharing a wide receiver role.

Where are you getting that Edleman has more snaps than welker through 2 weeks?

Well if you want to be a petulant, butthurt baby who feels entitled to get a win out of his team whenever he wants one, good for you.
The fact is this team has won more games than any, pretty much over whatever period you want to use in the last decade.
The fact that you come up with 3 examples in 6 years, and call that proof of your inane comment, just shows how wrong you are.
Grow up. Every team loses games. Crying about it so you can act like you deserve better as a fan is classless.

I don't follow your argument but a team can be consistent, even dominating, without being clutch. I don't see anything confusing about it.

Technically that is correct, but being on the field for the first play and being 'a starter' in everything except a technical definition are not really the same thing.

That's fine. Ronde Barber "technically" got his 200th start as a CB last week before moving to FS. It still goes down that Ronde Barber started 200 games as a CB, and it still goes down that Julian Edelman has started the first two games of the year.

There was altogether too much dismissing of the Cardinals, on the part of the fans. After all they have been to the SuperBowl within the last few years.

I think this was a heartbreaking loss, but I am still very heavily impressed with this edition of the Patriots. The Defense is maturing into a very impressive group. All they need is a second pass rusher from the strongside, to be really dominant, and may actually have valid candidates on the roster to do so, in Ninko, Cunningham, and Bequette.

On Offense the brain trust is trying to create a complete Offense, and it hasn't yet completely gelled. The running game is much better than in the past few years. But blocking for the inside run by the new interior blockers is unsteady; but the wide run, the hardest to accomplish, seems to have arrived.

I don't know whether the new guards and centers can consistently open holes or not, but I am willing to let them try to develop over the course of the season. I will offer the observation that Marcus Cannon is a real load in the run game. It will be next season before he is a real candidate at Guard though, as he is needed as the swing tackle now.

The weakest part of Brady's game has always been the very deep pass. He just is not very accurate doing this. He never has been.

The future HOF Randy Moss was run out of town for not continuing to fight and win reception fights, to catch the inaccurate TB deep throws.

In two games has Brady completed a +40 yard play in the air? Tom Brady's talent is recogniton and the ability to complete the short and intermediate throws, with great timing and accuracy. He still does that; but forcing long bombs to no avail, usually ends a drive.

Josh McD is trying to strategically make opponents respect the deep pass, but it hasn't worked so far. I can see if they do become at least adequate vertically, Defenses won't be able to crowd the intermediate zones. We have seen success in extending the short and intermediate zones horizontally already though.

    #12 Jersey

    1. Washington, Dallas, Chicago, NYJ and Chicago all fell back to earth in worse fashion than the Patriots and were riding just as high. Something tells me they'll fare worse going forward.

    2. The long term health of Hernandez is the biggest story of this game. I have to imagine it's at least 6 weeks. They are really going to miss him vs the Ravens.

    3. The O-Line is going to really get tested next week. They lack continuity. I would feel a lot better if Waters was coming in but it looks like that ship has sailed. Dante really has his work cut-out for him. Really that unit appears to be the weakest link right now. Good news is he has a proven track record of getting them to play better as the year goes on.

    4. I agree this wasn't a gem for McDaniels. The toss play that took them out of FG range was especially bad.

    5. I don't know what happened to Gostkowski on that kick but honestly that was as bad of a miss as Cundiff or Vanderjak in term of it might have been bad as a PAT. I'm not calling him a choker or anything like that but let's be honest you couldn't miss it much worse.

    6. I miss the days when our special teams were actually special like Arizona's are now. It's been a long time since those units were exciting difference makes on a regular basis. They are generally consistent but not special.

    7. The rookie trio of Jones, Hightower and Wilson continue to impress.

    8. The defense really only gave up 10 point which means they're at 11.5/game. I have to believe they'll get the offense right and that the defense will only get better which is encouragine.

    9. Peaking at the end > peaking at the start.

    10. Welker said they had a lousy week of practice. Think this one will be better?

The good I'm seeing is intangible. It will come later. I love the leadership of this team and that's why I'm saying what I'm saying. They will use this as an opportunity to teach/learn and grow.

Plus I think they are much better off without having to dick around with 16-0 fantasies. They need to stay grounded, not to get into wild fantasies that distract them from the focus of getting better every week.

So I'm quite happy with this because I believe it will make them better. This is to be followed by something right? That will be better. That's the crux of my happiness.

Even before the blown ST plays they were constantly in bad field position. At least one time Mesko booted it into the end zone when he clearly didn't want to. They have zero threats to return kicks, so I think the ST were very weak today. Without Demps I don't see them as being special this year.

    #11 Jersey

This particular loss leaves me with a bad feeling. They just looked so unprepared. I almost sense a bit of dissension among the team. I mean, players telling the media that they had a bad practice and that guys werent doing their jobs. When usually they are tight lipped. Was the bad practice because this younger team got complacent with the big win last week? Even the play on the feild just looked awful. Thomas stood out too me as just lost. Not using Welker enough. A very strange game. Maybe it's just me bummin from a sad loss. I do know that it will get better, but this oline better protect the QB to get there

You sense dissension after a FG miss ? Thats a reach. And even in the past , after losses BB/players have clearly said the week of practice to the SB was not good the most infamous one being the SB of 2008. Lets not overreact just like we did with the titans game.
For me the biggest concern was the offensive line. I wasnt as sure about them after the titans as some of the others may have been and it kind of proved right today when confronted with a very good defense. This the biggest concern for the patriots right now. Everything else will get fixed.
