Why is this thread here in the political forum, to save it from getting moved here.

I think that Goddell has to suspend Roethlisberger today, basically for racial harmony of the league.

Let me first say the he DESERVES TO BE SUSPENDED, he acted like a moron (at least twice) a grown man with an entourage trolling college bars getting 20 year old girls drunk and having sex with them in the bathroom, while his "bodyguards" block the door. The only reason that he is not facing charges is that the girl was too drunk to make a decent witness against him (and if she was too drunk to do that, she was too drunk to give informed consent).

But since Goddell has suspended black players such as Pacman, Henry, Stallworth, Lynch all under the "Personal Conduct" policy. I think (rightly or wrongly) the Roethlisberger situation is going to be looked at through the prism of race. If Goddell does not suspend Big Ben, the cries of favoritism and racism will flow (and maybe rightly so).

I say that he really has to suspend Roethlisberger (and that the Pats should play the Steelers and the Jets within the first 4 games next year).

Have any other players been suspended for not having charges brought against them? I don't know the answer.

I see your point that there would be a "double-standard" -- maybe not just along race lines but also star quarterback vs other positions.

Both Pacman and Henry had the charges dropped, so yes, they were not "convicted" of anything. I guess you have to add Michael Vick, under the "Star QB" label, of course, Vick got convicted, but either way he has suspended a "star QB"

When Goodell reinstated Jones from suspension before the regular season began, sources said one of the commissioner's conditions for Jones to remain an active player was that he remain in compliance with all aspects of his three-year probation from his no-contest plea last February to a felony in Fayette County, Ga. Which he violated 6 weeks after being renistated. He was, yes, suspended again.

Ditto for Chris Henry after multiple arrests.

Randy Moss was accused of domestic violence but was never suspended by the NFL for it.

He was also accused of assaulting a female in Florida. No suspension came about from that, either.

I'm too lazy to look up anyone else. You get the picture.

What I want to know is how much he paid the woman not to cooperate any further with police. Haven't seen any media hounds barking up that tree yet.

Goodell needs to implement the douchebag rule ... 4 games for being a douchebag ... minimum.

Once they brought Michael Vick back they threw all pretense of morality out the window.

Agree with the race idea in this thread. Hard to ignore the race thing
... it's there and the media will be all over it if he is not suspended.

Maybe ben should be suspended, not my call, and I really have not followed the saga of Ben the rapist.

My only oppinion on this is I hope he plays when the Jets play the Steelers.

I think that Big Ben's days in Pittsburgh are numbered. Rooney sold his Republican soul to the devil last year to buy himself his ambassadorship to the homeland (Ireland) so it is going to be very tough for him to have this guy as the "face" of his franchise.

I only hope that he doesn't get traded to the Raiders, because that could screw up the Pats pick for next year.

Also he needs to go for alchohol treatment and abuse treatment ... all the stuff a sexual predator criminal would have to do to get back into the league.
