So much irony. So little time.
And on that note, I'm done with this thread. The blind homers are blind because they wish to be, not because of ignorance. It's sad that they don't mind being as pathetic as the Ray Rays of the world in these types of situations, but it is what it is. This waste of time accomplished just that wasting, but now appointments require that I head out.
Y'all are welcome to keep pretending that the guy being asked to take something like a $4m salary cut after a 118 reception season was the problem. Most people live in the real world and realize just how ridiculous that position is.
I'm not sure why there is a need to identify a 'problem'.
What Welker wanted to and what the Patriots were willing to offer were not congruent.
He could have accepted their offer, they could have agreed to pay him more. Both sides were not willing to.
What Welker did while in a Patriot uniform is not really relevant to the decision about the future for either side, other than its ability to forecast the future. It seems the Patriots clearly concluded that the evidence they had said his future value would decline. It is their job to make that decision.
I wanted Welker back. I also recognized that during the contract he will not be what we was. I am not so ignorant as to pretend that I have enough knowledge of the financial landscape of the cap now and in the future to know every consideration that went into that decision.
As an obtuse message board 'lawyer' I can scream about how stupid the team was. As a thinking person, I realize my opinion is based on a percentage of the data and facts needed to make that decision that is less than 100% by a fair amount, including coaching the player for 6 years, witnessing phtsical decline or lack thereof, and the impact of the beatinghe has taken in those 6 years.
Or I could just complain that everyone who disagrees with me must either be ignorant or intellectually dishonest, because how else could they possibly disagree with me.
