    1. Why is the greatest offense of all time only able to put up 14 points on the scoreboard?? JM what kind of gameplan was that? It became pretty obvious that the Pats could not do anything to run in that game. But we insisted on wasting our first downs by handing off to Maroney for no yards. Leaving only 2 downs for Brady to get a 1st and leading to punts.

    2. In a 7-3 game, why on god's green earth do you not kick that field goal? I know it's a 45 yard field goal, but that's hardly unmakeable. 3 points is better than 0 points. We have those 3 points in our back pocket and we're looking at overtime instead of a desperate drive with 30 seconds left on the clock, and ultimately a loss.

    3. Who in the world called that defense on the last play of the Giants go ahead touchdown? Why would you bring the entire house and leave just a single man, one on one to try to stop the red zone scoring machine Plaxico Buress? At the very least he should have been doubled in the endzone, tripled if possible. Instead the Pats gambled when they didn't have to, and LOST the gamble big time.

    4. Hobbs was burned like a torch all night long, most memorably by Buress for the gamewinner. I'll say it now, and I'll say it again, Hobbs is NO starting corner. He should be a nickle on this team at best. Pats need to acquire some real DBs, especially if Samuel ends up leaving. There's only so much DB weaknesses that the DL can disguise.

    5. Our offensive lined performed like whipped dogs. Hochstein was a human turnstile. It was extremely frustrating to watch. I mean what the hell happened up front? Brady has no chance to win if he doesn't even have time to get off a throw.

    6. The Pats just let ANOTHER Manning win the Superbowl. I mean wow, just take a moment to take in how disgusting that thought is...

    7. The Giants DID get lucky on some big plays on the final drive. The 4th and 1 conversion, and especially the long pass to Tyree. The Pats should have called timeout to regroup and think it over after that play. Instead they let the defense play it out and ultimately lose the game.

    8. 59 seconds to victory and then they give up the TD to Buress. This was the ONE game the Pats played only 59 minutes. And it cost them, big time.

    9. Whenever they mention the Super Bowl on TV and Late night shows I have to change the channel. It's just too disgusting to look it or listen to.

    10. We couldn't run, we couldn't pass, and we couldn't hold the Giants when it came to crunch time. In sum, the New England Patriots, our favorite team, CHOKED in the biggest game of the year. And this feeling totally SUCKS! I don't know how to fix near-perfection. But it was anything BUT perfect, in the game that really mattered.

Pretty much all of that is true. It's frustrating. Basically, you just have to try to not think about the game. I'm moving on to next season, ASAP, b/c that game was the biggest missed opportunity one could have, and there was no reason for them to fail. There are so many things in that game, as you point out, that could've gone differently. But it is what it is.

I disagree McD tried everything, in fact, it looked like for a while they were just stubbornly trying to have their way. They didn't give the OL any help or leave Brady any extra protection. And they didn't try the power formation that worked so well against the Chargers.

The good news is that as a fan it could never ever get any worse as far as dissapointment. There is no future scenario that could play out that would match this. If the team becomes mediocre ones expectations are lowered accordingly. In this case the highest, highest, perfect expectation is met by defeat creating a massive shock. So if you can deal with the this you are in good shape going forward...

I was really pissed off when they got TWO turnover from the GIANTS and can't do jack about...if that was in the regular season, they would had AT LEAST make a field goal... They know they can't run from the beginning, but right after the INT..they run 3 times and out, the next one is the same crap.

If you have the best offense, for Christ sake...why not spread 5 wide and burn their secondary?!?...  :violent:

Exactly. If we went in as 12-4, 13-3, (edit, ok, anything except 16-0) in that range, and lost that game, yeah, I'm still pissed, but I move on rather quickly. This was brutal b/c of expectations and the history at stake.

    You nailed it Mo.

Once question that is bugging me is WHY does BB not have confidence in Gostkowski? I mean the kid hasn't really given us any reason to think he sucks. I don't have as much confidence in him as I did in Vinatieri but then again Vinatieri missed 2 FG's in SB 38 so he's not perfect either.

48 yards in dome, I don't care if Welker kicks it, you have to try when faced with 4th and 13.

Would anybody feel better if we had lost to Baltimore, went vanilla against the Giants to finish 14-2 and still lost Sunday?

The Pats may want to take a good, hard look at Drayton Florence. He's an unrestricted FA this year and while he's no Antonio Cromartie or Quentin Jammer, he's worlds better than Hobbs. He'll want decent money, but nowhere near what Samuel would command.

QuinielaBox; great point and yes, I'd feel 10,000% better if that were the case.

As BradyManning2344 pointed out, this was brutal considering what was at stake, 19-0; we'll never, ever see this again. They had a chance to tell the NFL to go pound sand, they had a chance to silence all of their critics forever.

    This is brutal, epically brutal..............

They didn't dress 3 TE's, and the 2 they did were useless. They each got run over too, and one committed a couple of costly penalties to match the LT's effort.

San Diego is a 3-4 team who get pressure via disguising the blitz. Apples and oranges. This was a 4-3 getting suficient pressure even when they didn't blitz and not even bothering to disguise what they did because they were simple having their way with the 5, 6 or 7 we matched up against their 4 or 5.

I would have liked to see our goaline package in on 1st and goal at the end just to eat clock or burn TO's. That, the 4th and 13 pass at the FG, and the jailhouse blitz with only Hobbs left to defend Burress are the only real criticism's or questionable calls of the night as far as I'm concerned. Scheme is only as good as the talent executing it. It will likely land Spagnolo a job he may or may not be up to. The entire Giants coaching staff was poised to be canned at the end of the season. Just goes to show...

They only got one turnover and when you're getting your QB killed in 4 wide 5 wide is naturally the way to go...as any idiot will tell you.

True, but they've used O'Cal as the 3rd TE in the 3TE set before.

I don't think not kicking the field goal was the difference in the game.

I don't think Hobbs was burned like a torch all night. The last blitz yes! But come on. The games 10-7 until the Pats scored. The Giants offense was hardly manhandling us!

Yes, I would have liked alot more protection for Brady. But we still drove ahead for the go ahead TD.

The last Patriot drive should have been the winning drive. Putting us up 14-10 with 2 minutes left. If the defense could have come up with a stop, it was our game.

I didn't see a choke, I saw a few lucky plays. That if they go the other way we win.

VCJ....I feel EXACTLY LIKE YOU DO.....and this loss is still burning a hole in my gut like a meteor........1) Yes...where were the adjustments oh Boy Blunder.........awful playcalling......no creativity......no huddle would have at least made them stop bringing the house every play!........The O line plain out sucked a##.....but Josh McD's inability to get something going with creative adjustments.....was the key to our O doing nothing against this weak secondary.......
2)Why Bill!?......now I am hearing that Gost was nailing 50 yrders in warmups in a dome with NO F'ING wind..our not going for that FG ended up being HUGE in the scheme of things.........Bill has yet to answer that question....
    3) Gawd you are right here.....Hobbs should be demoted to coming in once in awhile in nickel and dime packages where he provides DOUBLE or ADDITIONAL coverage .....but PLEASE....Never again make the mistake of getting this guy in ANY ONE ON ONE coverages.....He sucks in any matchup one on one......and gets torched repeatedly.........That one there is just brutally painful to watch.....not blaming that entirely on Hobbs....it was Pees/BB who left him out there WITH NO BACKUP COVERAGE ON THE ONLY GUY That could have won that game for them in the red zone....Pathetic work BB/Pees
    5) Matt Light and Kaczur need COMPETITION this preseason because these two are ALWAYS the culprits when the pocket collapses and you see Light doing a little ring around the rosy as Tom gets whipped down on his a##.....Light and Kaczur were pathetic on Sunday and should be embarrassed.......We need some good FA or draft candidates to challenge and hopefully unseat these guys.....O'C could challenge in the upcoming year as well....He has shown flashes of brilliance (although has gotten beaten bad at times in there as well..)
6)F' the Mannings..........this still breaks my heart.....we had gomer in our hands at the end....and let him get away......unreal
9)I can not agree more on this.......When watching Tanguay go over the final drive......pass through asante's hands.......Harrison just barely NOT getting there to knock the ball away......And....our TWO D LINEMAN getting ahold of Gomer and getting HELD BY THE GINT OLINE so that he was able to escape ....brought tears to my eyes......and then ;.....well don't get me started on the Hobbs play again.......

All we can do is look forward to next year....and hope we have yet another run in us...........good post man.....hang in there......and don't watch ANY SPORTS shows or listen to any ESPN radio for the next month or so,.,.....

Gost was not kicking great in warmups. I don't know if that had anything to do with it. He drilled a few from the 40 and the 45, but he shanked a couple too. He tried one from the 45 that was about 20 feet short and about 20 yards right. It was tough to watch. Tynes, on the other hand, was brilliant.

I expect that coaches watch that stuff and report to Belichick. Then he poked a kick off out of bounds. Has he done that all year? I expect Belichick believed he had little chance to make it, given all that. Maybe he's got an injury or something. Maybe he was just overwhelmed. He didn't really get many chances to kick under pressure this year.
