(I really did.) (this thread is counterbalance also to the doom and gloom)

That reflects my level of confidence. Simply stated, we lost by a haris breath last year, and this years team is MUCH better.

Fingers crossed. See you all in balmy Gillette sunday!

I thought I was going to read in your post at some point, "I hope I didn't jinx them!" Kudos to you, sir!

You all ought to get together and try for a group airfare and hotel rate. Your in the SB, next two weeks merely a formality.

Nothing is guaranteed but I was able to get a fully refundable ticket so I bit the bullet, if the Pats do get in rates are absurd after the championship round, I know because me and my mom did this last year first time ever going to the big game.

How far is Houston from NOLA? If you guys get in I envy you you can probably drive and save thousands.

You talking about Arian Foster? the only back in NFL history to rush for 100+ yards in first 3 playoff games? That fraud? Not me.

How buying plane tickets could correlate to a team's chance of winning is beyond me. Only things like where you sit in your living room and what type of beer you are drinking can do that.

Me and a few friends did that a couple weeks before SB38. We couldn't get into the game, but the experience was awesome!

    Great opening post man!!

    Embrace the challenge!!!

Even according to the bookies we are a 25% chance to win it, so we are (by my reckoning) a 50% chance to make it.

I get nervous, but (as a fan) ya gotta hit the playoffs with your chest out, your chin up and a rock hard.............anyway, you get the idea.

    GET ON.

Yep. In 96, flew into Hobby and drove to NO. Watched the game at Pat O'Briens. Even in a loss, a good time. I stayed at friends place so hotels weren't an issue. Even if you don't have a ticket it is a good trip if the Patriots get in.

I wish Arian was on the Pats. He is one of the best udfa's of all time!

The Texans as a whole (team) is very good. Shaub is ok, but, not stellar. Johnson is one of the best. Daniels is very good. Oline is among the best. Their front seven defense is obviously extremely good!

I would say that their weaknesses are that they have no real 2nd receiver (well, Pats really don't either. Lloyd is pretty decent, but, nothing to brag about.) and Shaub.

I respect the Texans. They're nothing to sleep on.

Flying out of Boston? What dates? Flight prices have been crazy. Havent seen anything under $600ish.
Only see one hotel under $500 a night for 4 nights thats close to the Quarter.
If I had the dough I would go to N.O. anytime for a superbowl.
Have fun. Hopefully you will be joined by many Pats fans.

Probably, they're both very into the environment and being green...reusing tomato cans so they do not need to buy plastic cereal bowls is right up their alley.

Anyways, I was also looking into booking a hotel in NOLA since I live within a vague driving distance (Tampa). However, once the hotels released those dates the prices went up and rooms got booked so quickly I was shut out. I'd love to go up for the week before the Super Bowl if the Pats get in or not just for the experience.

For SB XXXI I was in Tech School at Keesler AFB. A guy I knew had a car, we drove to New Orleans the day before the Super Bowl and did the Canal Street thing...it was just incredible. Pats fans everywhere, beads flying around, drinks being bought and just handed out to strangers on the streets. I would imagine now at 34 I would enjoy different parts of it, but I bet it is still one hell of a good time.

I really don't like talking about this because we have two very hard matches to come just to make it to New Orleans but this is something that will take a lot of planning, keeping in mind I plan on getting over from Australia SHOULD the Pats get there. I've already placed a deposit of like 20 US dollars on a youth Hostel pretty close to down town New Orleans, so if I lose out 20 bucks that's nothing.

The main question I have if anyone could help is how quickly do tickets sell out on re sale sights like StubHub and even on NFL.com for the SB? And yes I know I'd be paying through the nose but this is a life long dream of mine.

Tickets are available on stub hub up till game time, and I would wait till then. Me and my mom went for the first time last year and bought our tickets in a frenzy right after the Cundiff missed field goal. By game day tickets in the same section 10 rows closer to the field were 50% of the price we paid! We will be waiting it out this year.

It's kind of scary though, flying half way across the world (IF WE MAKE IT!) not having a ticket until I get there.

Very true, in your case I would look at stub hub in the section you want to sit everyday and pull the trigger when the ticket price is within your price range. The piece of mind is worth the extra dough given that your traveling from so far away.

I wouldn't worry about it. Sounds like there will be a lot of Patriot fans in New Orleans with nothing to do. Shouldn't be too hard for y'all to get together & find something to do.

Bourbon Street is always popular, 24/7 party.
