I am surprised no one caught this Borges Gem

If no one read or reported his idle pap, would he still exist???? Borges is the #1 ahole of the sports mediots...

As much as people say they ignore him, they don't. That's why he'll be around.

The guy could quit the Herald, move to Canada and report on the CFL and people here would still be interested in what he has to say.

1. I haven't flamed you once.

Then you would be part of a small minority on here. I admit that I can't recall an example of you insulting me. I do remember you referring to me as a bandwagon a couple of times, which isn't true. Go back and read my pre-trade posts and then see if you still want to accuse me of being a bandwagon fan.

2. You haven't touched my original post toward you regarding Borges with a ten foot pole.

Link me, I may have missed it. I'm not sure if you noticed but I have had a flood of messages directed at me during the past few days so I have no doubt that I missed some of them.

3. Lots of people have opinions I don't like. I don't like people who have the opinion that the Seymour trade was a good trade or people who actually thought this defense was top five last season. But I discuss it with them in a rational manner. You, on the other hand, don't seem to want to do that... either in this thread or in the Bob Kraft thread. Your MO is to try to point out hypocrisies on this forum. I normally have no problem with that as long as people can back up their points. You haven't shown that ability to date.

Initially (as in the first night) I was too angry to debate the topic so I was mostly ranting. But since then I have TRIED to discuss my opinion and have posted multiple arguments but people mostly respond with insults or just attempt to dismiss my argument.

4. Let's be honest here, you had no idea that Borges had a huge history of bashing not only pretty much everything the Pats have done, but also Randy Moss. If you had, you would have joined in the bashing given your opinion on Moss and trade.

Actually I remember him bashing Randy way back in 2007 when the Oakland trade happened. I don't agree with him but he is entitled to his opinion and I'm NOT going to call him names over it. I'm generally not that type of person. And after reading a lot of your posts, I'm honestly shocked that you would condone it yourself.

Even when I was pissed off and ranting about Kraft and Bill, I didn't do that. The worst thing I said about Kraft was that I felt he is cheap.

Borges can always fall back on boxing, there's a growing sport. Borges vs. Belichick would be a great charity boxing match. I would bet that Bill has Borges milk money by the end of 3 rounds.

Straight up question.
On Oct 31, will you be rooting and hoping for Randy to be shut down and Tate to have a bigger game than Moss ever had? Or will you be rooting to be proven right? Do you want to be right or do you want to be wrong?

I put a lot of thought into this and I hope to be proven wrong about our immediate future. But as for the Vikings game, I would be lying if I said part of me doesn't want Moss to score 3 TDs against us. But that is more of a "screw you" to all of the pats fans who constantly criticized him while he was with us. It has nothing to do with the team.

Are you a fan of the New England Patriots?

Yes I am. But I'm also realistic. I'm not one of those "head in the sand" sports fans who blindly follow management. If I think they make a mistake that has a negative effect on my team, then I speak up about it, regardless of how many people it pisses off. I'm also not the type of fan who only roots for the laundry. Players work their asses of for us and I believe they deserve some loyalty from the fan base. Unfortunately we seem to have one of the most indifferent fan bases in sports. We don't care who gets traded, we barely cheer at games (as Brady pointed out) compared to other teams, etc...

No you aren't a fan of the Patriots. A fan roots for the team. You may be a fan of certain players, which is fine, but a true fan wants their team to win. You are a troll.

Troy Brown's success was mostly a result of having Brady throw the ball to him. You have to admit, if Troy would have been on another team, he wouldn't have done much. He was never really a Jerry Rice, Marvin Harrison, Randy Moss type of WR.
OMG that is the whole point of this. The Patriots haven't ever needed a Rice, Harrison, Moss kind of player to be successful. You really just made the point crystal clear. Thank you!

How about refusing to accept the numbers from PatsCap.com because in your opinion they must be skewed and unreliable due to Miguel being a fan of the Pats; yet on the other hand polls on fan forums around the internet are in your opinion very reliable and accurate. And the only acceptable documentation regarding what teams spend to you would be ones that are not made public, numbers direct from the NFL;
That isn't a strawman.

yet on the other hand you're willing to conclude that Kraft and Pats are cheap without those very same numbers, because 'everybody knows it'.

When exactly did I say it was a fact that he is cheap based on the number of people who have accused him of it over the years? Copy and paste that quote please. It was my opinion that he is cheap and I was pointing out that many others have agreed. Naturally that doesn't PROVE he is cheap anymore than your argument proves he isn't but I was supporting my opinion.

Then of course there is your response to my analogy of the Belichick/Kraft business philosophy on how to be successful longterm given the restraints of the salary cap; your response to that analogy, that 11+3+1 = 7+5+3 was "sheer idiocy". I never did get a response as to why it was idiotic for me to believe that fifteen equals fifteen.

I referred to it as sheer idiocy because it was a bad analogy and made no sense within the context of the discussion.

Hooray for ignore. Try it, you will feel much better in the end, and it just makes you want to come here more often.

I have to disagree and this is why. At one time we didn't need any star WRs to do well but we also had other ways of making up for our lack of skill in that area, such as our superior defenses during the superbowl years. Right now we needed Moss because we have an average (and I'm being generous) defense, virtually no running game (until it proves to be consistent), and a passing game that has struggled in almost every game this season and that was WITH Moss on the field. That is why I'm deeply concerned about the immediate future. But we'll see what happens during the next few games. Maybe I'll be wrong and we will find a way to make it work.

First of all, apparently you have no idea what a troll is...

Secondly, your opinion of what defines the word "fan" is exactly that. An opinion. I know I'm a pats fan and couldn't possibly care less about what you think.

Than you are NOT a fan of the New England Patriots, you are a fan of Randy Moss.

Its okay, you can be. But be honest. You are now a Vikings fan. Get yourself a purple and gold Moss jersey and be happy with your decision. If Moss moves again you can root for that team.

I was a Michael Jordan fan. Rooted for him when he played for the Bulls. Rooted for him when he played for the Wizards. Even rooted for him when he played for the Birmingham Barons. I never had allegiance to either the Bulls or Wizards.

My dad a lifetime Giants fan is a Parcells fan (although not enough to root against the Giants.) So unless the Patriots or Jets were playing the Giants he would root for the team Parcells coached. (The only time in my life me and my dad rooted for the same team was when Parcells coached the Patriots.)

I like Matt Cassell and Ochocinco and will root for them when their success doesn't interfer with the Patriots. And if you said you "will root for Moss in every game this season other than Oct 31", you could still call yourself a Patriot fan. But you are not. If Moss's success is more important to you than the Patriots success, root for Moss's team - the Vikings.

Than you are NOT a fan of the New England Patriots, you are a fan of Randy Moss.

No, I'm a Pats fan and I'm a fan of Randy because of what he did for our team. I know its hard for you to comprehend that but it isn't my problem. And repeatedly calling me a Vikings fan isn't going to change reality.

I'll be rooting for Moss to score 3 TDs in that game to send a message that you guys were wrong about him during the past 4 years. And I want the pats to succeed during the season even though the chances aren't looking good.

So say what you want, it makes no difference to me. I'm not going away and I will continue supporting the Pats AND Randy Moss. if you don't like it feel free to find someone who cares.

That pretty much says everything anyone would ever need to know.

Let me explain something that hindsight has otherwise shaded. In 2001 NO ONE thought we had a great defense until AFTER we won the Superbowl.

This whole discussion shouldn't exist here. Should I bother pointing out that the original post wasn't trashing Borges' opinion of the trade, but his asinine comment about Belichick? Should I also point out that Teenuh agreed that the comment was over the top?

So what we have here is a poster who agreed with the original post but was determined to argue a point that didn't exist in this particular thread regardless. This is evidently because she a) thinks she knows more than one of the greatest coaches of all time, b) wants to be right at the cost of her team's success, and c) wants to play the villain role (check what she wrote under her name) as, you know, it's fun to be the bad guy and stuff.

My one-year-old dressed up as Darth Vader for his first Halloween, but he was still just a one-year-old.

A really good and very overlooked point.

BB said after the first Superbowl "Can you believe we won the SB with these guys?" Which means he obviously knew they didn't have the most talent. And they should have been completely overpowered by the far more talented Rams. However, he didn't GIVE UP on the season because of it and because they lost their franchise QB. ANd Tom Brady was good, but he wasn't TFB either.

If we were to win the SB now, in five or so years, everyone could be saying (while trashing our chances) "Well, we had Gronk and Hernandez and Tate then! Who do we have now!"

You're always nobody until you're somebody.

It's a shame the rest of the country can't experience the "essence" of Borgie the Perv. A blurb in a Pepe King column does not do justice to our favorite wandering-bug-eyes-rain-coat-wearing-sleaze-in-the-porn-shop-personna plagiarist.
Of course it's always so humorous when other mediots cite Borgie the P's words.
Journalistic integrity at it's best! ;)

It's a badge of honor and integrity to have Borgie the P hating you.
Honestly Belichick must be thrilled. I know I would be.

Despite everything else you wrote, that underlined sentence says it all in my opinion. First, you want Moss to succeed more than you want the Pats to succeed. Second, you're more interested in having the events unfold so they will prove you were right than in having the events unfold that result in the team winning.

You're a Moss fan first and Pats fan second. That's okay, that's your prerogative. Accept it and move on.
