While I know some of you would rather me go away forever :),I am glad to still be alive today and able to log onto patfans which will have to be my entertainment for quite a while.

This past thursday morning on my way to work from breakfast,I was run off the road by an elderly driver who did not see me coming into his blind spot,I swerved to avoid a collision and jerked sharply right but then my car fishtailed out of control across a 4 lane road into a ditch and stopped after the passenger side hit a huge solid dirt and rock mound, thankfully there was only me and no passenger who certainly would have been crippled or died.

Here I am now with a lip busted in 4 places which the force of my head actually bent the steering wheel in half and worse I sustained a severe painful broken pelvis to my right side which will keep me bedbound for 2-4 months.

Sorry to waste a spot on the main forum but just how glad I am to not only remain a Patriots fan but an ALIVE Patriots fan, someone up above must be wanting me to be rooting for the team once again this season.

Just remember today could always be your last day,so root for your team everyday, you never know when your time as a fan can run out,it can change your perspective on life and everything you normally do everyday that we all take for granted, like walking for instance which I can no longer do until at least summer.

    Regards,PATRIOTSFANINPA

LOL,Thanks for a few laughs to a guy that has broken down emotional a bit,As a 45 year old man having my wife have to do everything like sponge bathe me and feed me and get me to the toilet on a wheelchair for the next 8-12 weeks or longer,it really brings a proud man to his knees and once I get back to normalcy,I will NEVER take anthing for granted again, something as simple as going to the kitchen on your own.

Throughout all of the mud slinging and sand throwing that happens here, in the end we're all Pats fans and that's all that counts. Get well soon! PM me and I'll send you a get well thingy. It sounds like you have some time on your hands.

    Sincerely
    Frezo

I can barely remember the details of the other car,but I do believe it was either a dark gold or green color car, green like the Jets...the old guy did get away,I am not really even sure he actually knew what he did to me,he was long gone by the time my car flew across the roadway.

Wow that's rough. Never had an injury like that, but broken ribs and collarbone meant taking things day by day and that's all you can do, I guess. Hang in there, champ and read the playbook while you're on PUP.

Good luck on your recovery, PF, and I hope you don't need it.

You realize that you are temporal, when I had kidney surgery woke up with a catheter in.. somehow no one told me about that detail. You loose some of your dignity, but will get over it..

    No Jersey Selected

Heh... I spent two months in the Naval Hospital at Bethesda recovering from fractured vertebra. I can commiserate with your predicament. At least you have your wife to do all of that. I had Navy Corpsmen.

But seriously, you are absolutely correct. No one knows what each day will hold, so be thankful for what you have, and hold tight to those around you.

My best wishes for a full and fast recovery!

Yeah,If my car had not spun around at the last seconds before impact at 50MPH and hit the driver's side instead of hitting the passenger side, I would most certainly had a good shot of not making it - the passenger side was destroyed with the roof caved in like a sardine can and the door bashed in and glass everywhere - this was a small Honda Civic Hatchback from the 90s with no airbags and I had no seatbelt on :bricks:.

Sometimes you just know there is a higher authority not ready to take you away, not to mention that for some miraculous timing, there was no cars on any of the 4 lanes which is rare on the road which is usually very busy near noon time when it happened, certainly could have been a horror for me and several others, not just myself.

Glad to hear that you're alive! I suppose the internet, the Patriots, and TV will be your main entertainment until you recover from your injuries. Oh just a tip for the wise, don't break your TV if you don't like how BB drafts... he's always a tough nut to figure out on draft day. But usually it turns out ok. :) 2009 was a pretty good year, we need another solid showing in 2010 to build up the foundation of this team for years to come.

I guess there is some good news out of all of this,I have and will lose more weight as I only have enough space in my mouth to fit a straw for liquids only which should last another week and on top of that I will be able to see the whole draft on TV whereas normally I couldn't.

Last week I looked at some players in the draft that I would be extremely concerned over if BB took them, now I don't care, just get us some fine players,Im lucky to be able to just see it happen and don't care anymore who we take.

    Some suggestions...

    1. Have your wife practise doing the sponge bath thingy on me so she doesn't injure you. What are friends for?

    2. Liquids thru a straw. I recommend a fine single malt scotch before bedtime.

    3. Bedridden and TV...
Book series the "Prey" police procedure series of books by John Sandford

    Index - Books

Michael Connely's Harry Bosch books. Most libraries have both series.

    Michael Connelly's Book Collection

Creative excellent writing, a touch of Stephen King supernatural and Sci-Fi, books by Dan Simmons

Dan Simmons - Author's Official Web Site

Get the 1st 5 seasons of LOST on DVD and watch it if you haven't. It will keep your mind occupied with other things.
