Hypothetical: no cap, Pats tender the Ghost

I didn't mention that possibility, but it's available to them, even if Gostkowski is an RFA. [In fact, it might actually be cheaper for the Pats to franchise him than tender him, but it would mean no franchise tag for anyone else.]

If there's no new CBA, teams are allowed 3 franchise tags, not the standard 1.

Sorry, no.

They get the one standard tag they get every year, which can be franchise OR the almost entirely useless transition.

If 2010's uncapped, they also get a second transition-only tag.

The difference between bad kickers and good ones is a fieldgoal or two a season.

Yeah, his kickoffs are great, but their are plenty of college soccer/rugby players out there.

The difference between a good and bad kicker is holding Ginn to an average of 24 YPR and 0 TD, like Meat did this past Sunday. Jets allowed Ginn an average of 49 YPR and 2 TDs. This by booting two touchbacks (one was disallowed due to the offsides Sanders incurred).

Tate actually had more YPR than Ginn this past Sunday, at 31.0

Soccer and Rugby players?
