Hypothetical: How would teams defend against Moss, TO, Edelman and Welker?

An effective, well-timed blitz forces the hot read and limits the QB's options. Playing tight straight-up man coverage (jamming the wideouts at the line) and trying to get to the quarterback seems apparent to me. You can't give Moss and T.O. time to get into their routes one-on-one, and you can't afford to leave anyone open by double-teaming one player.

This is pretty much everything that the Giants DIDN'T do in the Super Bowl. They double covered Moss but let Welker have everything he wanted (pretty much) underneath. It was the front four pass rush that won them that game (and would have lost them that game should it have not been able to get to Brady).

And my, how easily we forget about how Brady used to kill the blitz...

That strategy works maybe one in a thousand times. The key was physical matchups on the line and the fact they had deciphered Brady's protection calls. AND Neal leaving the game injured.

So now every single game the Giants played that season was a "one in a thousand" type game? Because that's how their defense was beating people, with a solid four man pass rush. The only thing that hurt that team that season was the erratic play of Manning.
