Just an interesting side note to the focus on Chris Landry's plagiarism case - the strong and apparently hypocritical words he had for Belichick as noted in ProfotoballTalk

ProFootballTalk.com - SMOKING GUN EMERGES IN LANDRY SITUATION

Here's the full Landry article about Spygate

    Above the law - Sportsnet.ca

I can't help but wonder about the hypocrisy of so many other players, coaches, reporters, and individuals who spoke out so righteously against a practice that has been proven to have been going on going back 50 years http://www.thesportgallery.com/sport-stories/1967aug-nflspy.html

About 5 other media people should be charged with libel and slander over the Video WITCH-HUNT.

You mean the hypocrisy of a player Like Schlereth who was at the forefront of Patriot spygate bashing despite using performance enhancers and playing on a team that decided it was OK to pay players of the books (not on the Salary Cap).

No one annoyed me more during the whole Scandal than Schlereth.

I like the article about Colts lb Hagler pressing charges against his ex-girlfriend
for slapping him with an open hand. Do we need any more proof the Colts are
    all girly-men?

LOL! I love when people take the moral high ground on an issue and get caught doing something worse. Sorry, but plaigarism is a far worse crime in journalism than videotaping signals is in the NFL. Videotaping signals wasn't even technically illegal until recent years while plaigarism is one of the worst crimes in journalism, not the worse (I think falsifying sources in damaging stories is worse - hello John Tomase and the NY Times).

I'm with you. He WAS the worst of many. To this day, I can't even look at or listen to him for more than 10 seconds, or so, and that's not an exaggeration. What a sleaze-bag.

Re: OT: Hypocrit Spygate Reporter reportedly fired for Plaigarism

I found a great article in an online magazine earlier this year where a sports writer ripped everyone and anyone who called us "cheaters" over this BS. I'll look it up when I get home tonight if you want to see it.

But anyway, he talked about how the only thing BB and co. did wrong was taping or trying to tape the signals. The NFL says you can copy them all you want by writing them down, you just can't tape them. That's like saying a guy who takes a friend out to dinner and puts it on his employer's expense account is on the same level as the guys who brought down Enron.

If anyone should be thrown in front of a bus, IMHO, it's BSPN's Sal Paolantonio (sp?). I remember last spring when Goodell handed down his "final judgment" on the whole business Sal Pal seemed outright pissed that nothing further would be done. He seemed to want BB suspended, if not thrown out of the league altogether. I was thinking, "Who the F*** are you anyway?!" And around this same time was when Marvin Harrison was involved in that shooting in Philadelphia, no one called on him to be suspended.

And I wonder how many careers were "cut" short by that scumbag & the other dirty tricksters on that Alex Gibbs-coached OL?

Not to hijack the thread but it was a smart move on Hagler's part. If he even raises his hand to stop her or defend himself, he's the one in handcuffs, on his way to jail. Let her wail on him, call the cops and then when she tries something in the future, he's not automatically presumed to be the guilty one. it wouldn't shock me if he was doing that on lawyers advice.....
There was an NBA player in the same situation last year (Jason Kidd ??)who called the cops on his ex-wife rather than defend himself and see his reputation ruined.....I think he got a restraining order on her.
It kills me to defend a Colt on anything, but in this case, he was right.......

Oh and as to the reporter, karma is sometimes beautiful....What's the old cliche, people in glass houses,,,,,,and the sinless ones casting the first stones........or Every dog has his day.....
Still waiting for a few more people to have their day........

Re: OT: Hypocrit Spygate Reporter reportedly fired for Plaigarism

i blame the current media frenzy over anything and goodell's inability to withstand pressure due to his own previous descisions to suspend pacman and tank johnson etc. Towards december and even after the SB goodell and even fisher said that stealing signals isnt prohibited.Goodell even cited parcells saying that any team which doesnt protect itself is stupid. yet the week it happened , he goes no nbc and gives and interview of moral ground to costas without clearing this up.

Here's another question , if it had been moss instead of burress last week wouldnt the whole pats organization and BB been crucified ? yet the giants are 'doing what is best for plaxico the person'

Re: OT: Hypocrit Spygate Reporter reportedly fired for Plaigarism

Was it this article from Bruce Allen?:

Why Spygate Is The Most Disgraceful Episode In Recent Sports Media History

As others have pointed out, Schlereth's performance was one disgrace after another. From claiming that he felt "violated" by the Patriots' rules violation to rationalizing Denver's transgressions by claiming "everyone did it," Schlereth was like a message board troll given airtime and presumed credibility. The one positive from that whole affair is that I have avoided that lying, cheating, hypocrite since then.

    Yep, that's the same guy.
Not only vehemently denied the plagiarism accusations initially, but went so far as to accuse the two writers from the National Football Post of plagiarizing his columns.
