'Hypnotist' thief hunted in Italy

    I saw a video of a guy who did something like that before. But, he didn't actually hypnotize them. He would start by putting out his hand as if to offer a handshake and then take it away and gesture in a different direction as he talked to them. This conflicting body language combined with what he was saying would confuse the person as they tried to keep up with what is going on. Because we are all conditioned to act certain ways and expect certain things. Causing a conflict in those norms had a disorienting effect. And he could actually get perfect strangers to hand him their wallet and not even realize what had happened until minutes later after he has left them.

    All this behaviour has to do with what we term as consciousness. Think for a minute and you'll realize that you do many daily tasks while blitely 'unconscious' of what you're doing.
