Honestly, I wouldn't mind if he had to sit out the first couple of weeks just to make sure he was completely healthy. With an early bye, that's another week he can rest and recover w/o missing a game.

9-10 months and he'll be fine. He'll come back in a diminished capacity and take some time to get up to speed.

On a side note, David Rodan of the Port Adelaide Football Club had the LARS procedure performed after rupturing his ACL and made a comeback within 3 months. He was best on ground in Port Adelaide's win over premiership fancy St.Kilda on the weekend.

    It can be done.

we need to let him rest. There is no way he will be 100% this season, and all you need to do is look at Brady for a great example of what happens when you don't let injuries fully heal. Of course I don't think Brady will every be fully healthy with our o line.

What leads you to believe Brady's knee was not fully healed? Also Brady still had an overall good year compared with the rest of the QBs in the NFL.

I'll tell ya a secret...in real life I'm sorta a big scary looking gorilla...so, I've found that breaking the ice with the fairer sex can be a daunting task...outside of 100K worth of plastic surgery and exfoliation, I've found that cutesy little tee hee kiddie jokes are a great ice breaker...that joke above is what you'd call a one and a half ba-da-bump ice melter...when she realizes you mean tuna fish and she realizes she was expecting some crude vulgar run of the mill big scary guy type vulgarity, the resulting reaction is most pleasant...of course, then I usually blow it with a string of overkill like "what do you call a deer with no eyes" type one liners...life sure ain't easy...:ugh:

who's talking about his knee? His shoulder still hasn't healed, and i am pretty sure BB and TB are trying to set the record for most appearances on the injury list.

Hurley is great. One of my favorite characters. I like how the fat boy communicates with the dead. This ability probably helped him with the Welker prediction.

    Only $50K..

Welker should be back a little after Thanksgiving if I had to guess. In the mean time, Price, Tate, Edelman, Hernandez, Gronk, and Holt is more than enough depth for the time being.

Ild go more with Haloween. and I actually don't think it is to crazy to think he may not need the PUP in season certainly start TC that way but hopefully comes off it before the season and while I doubt he is ready to play week 1 I think he will be back sometime between week 1 and week 6 (if they use the PUP on him I think he comes right off ASAP and is active because the PUP would put him almost 10 months out from the injury and as of now he seems to be on schedule if not ahead (granted all I can go on here is his public appearances, Other players return schedules, and the optimism that was spread about the injury potentially being a cleaner tear because it was noncontact)

I don't want him to play this season! He will just get re-injured. The Patriots are really really bad about bringing guys back too early. Look what happened to Tate last year. Mayo was also brought back too early also.

Please: No Welker this season. Wes will want to play but don't let him. He will just be Tate-ified.

I don't think he should be on the field until the playoffs, give him about a year to recover. Rehab is a *****. And I really don't want him blowing his knee out again on a first cut and end his career because he wants to get out there early

If I remember correct Tate had a minor knee injury that was not related the major injury that had him on pup to begin with and he was IRed because he was to far behind to wait on another injury regardless of the extent.

You don't play the game scared if a guy is cleared to play there is nothing to be gained by sitting him further.

Welker's work ethic is unquestionable, but come on now. He's a human being who had a horrible knee injury in the last game of the season. His work ethic should enable him to get back on the field in 2010 but his game relies on making extremely aggressive cuts to lose his man. We'd be kidding ourselves if we didn't at least concede that this area of his game will be negatively impacted. In short, I expect him back this season, but I don't expect to see Wes Welker until 2011.

A knee specialist my daughter just went to at Children's in Boston developed a new technique. The natural fluid in the knee actually inhibits healing. So the knee is drained of fluid and platelttes are injected which I assume is what the knee needs to heal itself.

Have no idea if this was used on Welker. But new treatments all the time. It could happen.

I've heard this floated about, and I think it's ridiculous. Mayo was still better than any ILB we had, so it didn't hurt the team. And he got STRONGER as the season played out after coming back, so it clearly didn't hurt him.

Maybe his "drop-off" in play was due more to him being a 2nd year player who a few weeks behind due to injury, having to take over not only increased on field responsibilities, but also take some of the leadership role left vacant by the departure of three HUGE defensive leaders.

No, you're right, logic be damned, he was mis-managed and brought back to soon. Next time he gets a hangnail we'll just IR him to be safe.

    Bah. End rant.
