How the hell did Josh Brown only get 1 game for domestic violence?

#Integrity.

And yet there already was a policy of how to handle a first offense equipment violation ( there wasn't a violation by the Pats, but let's assume there was), and Roger Goodell created a new, one time only, policy that he imposed against Brady and the Pats for Defamegate.

Because integrity!

The more I hear about this case, the more I'm heartbroken for Brown's ex-wife. She's obviously been through a ton, and then has had to endure the world ignoring her suffering. Hope she's able to carry on, and have a happy, healthy life.

The NFL really looks bad on this one, surprise surprise. Very sad.

I agree, it gets me so frustrated. The league's priorities are just screwed up.

I put this one in the Frame gate karma department, Mara and Roger were the leaders in DG.

Another reactive increase in punishment because of public outcry. Another black eye for ****dell and NYJFL*.

This is ridiculous.

Can they consult a domestic violence specialists and stop trying to figure **** out on their own??

Killing the paycheck earner is not the way to solve the problem. All that does is forces victims to decide whether they want to throw away their lifestyle, which often includes children, or to keep quiet and hope the future beatings aren't as bad.

Mandatory Counseling + short term suspension would go a long ways with the empowerment of victims.

But Roger's almighty ego will prevail.

Side note: Over/Under the amount of tears I will shed if Rog dies a horrific death. Starting line is at 0.

The guy the nfl sent to investigate the criminal case never identified himself as working for the nfl when trying to get records. The guy from sheriff's department said if he had just said he was with the nfl he would have gotten the records.

So when it comes to domestic violence for a John Mara employed player nfl won't even go as far to use the nfl name to get records.

But when it comes to some air pressure in the Patriots' footballs they will spend $10-15M and leave no stone unturned to punish them

I LOVE the comments coming from Steve Smith, and what do you want to bet he gets a big fine for wearing the domestic violence cleats? I know it's a little late, but was still glad to hear him point out how much money and energy they put into the air pressure in a football and so little into this.

Absolutely convinced 100% now Mara met with his law school buddy Denny Chin to get him to rule for the nfl against Brady. This right here screams of ****dell returning the favor for the guy that got him the win in court.

Also go look up Lisa Friel, the person the nfl hired for these types of things after the Ray Rice scandal HUGE Giants fan, family has had season tickets for 60 years, goes to every home game, even turned her basement into a Giants fan room. Her league office has posters of Eli Manning and Phil Simms FOR F**K SAKE

The timing for this **** is bad , right after Brady serving his suspension, too bad NY is playing in London this week, it would be awesome if their own fan base protested against the NFL on metlife stadium.

Giants fans are bending over backwards to alleviate their cognitive dissonance.

Clearly Goodell's head has swelled by now to the point that he thinks he can just publicly make up his own version of the truth, and nobody will call him out on it. Not even, say, the King County sheriff. Which leads to this.

“I would have said exactly the same thing, ‘We cannot release the case file.’ But since this is a hot-button item in the NFL, since it’s the NFL, we probably would have told them orally a little bit more about what we had.” he said. “But we don’t have them calling us here. We’ve got some goofus from Woodinville named Rob Agnew asking for the case file. We have no idea who he is.”

“We would have told them… ‘Be careful, NFL, don’t rush into this. This case is blossoming way more than what happened on May 22nd of 2015. We’re getting more information, be careful,’” he said. “Again, we’re not gonna give them specifics but we certainly would have cautioned the NFL to be careful about what they were going to do.”

King County Sheriff blasts NFL over Josh Brown

Good on Urquhart for airing the NFL's dirty laundry like that. Makes it very clear that the NFL went out of its way to request the records in such a way that they could say they did while minimizing the chance that they'd actually get anything.

It exposes that their clear motive was to cover their own ass, rather than any actual search for the facts or attempt to get things right. Gee, where have we seen that before?

Which in a way almost makes it even stranger that the NFL and the Giants are willing to risk this whole ****storm over a kicker. In a perverse way, I'd kinda 'get it' if it was Eli or OBJ on the line here -- it would still be clearly wrong, but purely from a league branding / importance of player perspective I'd understand why they'd be willing to put so much credibility on the line and risk such a PR nightmare with such a clear conflict of interest at play. But it's not them, it's Brown. They could've cut him and banished him the day this news first broke, and the impact would've been negligible on the field.

Frankly, this should have been a layup for both the Giants and the NFL. The NFL nails someone under the revised DV policy for the first time, the Giants show zero tolerance by cutting his ass, and they both get to come out of it pretending they actually give a **** about domestic violence and pointing to this as a concrete example. Everyone -- Mara, Goodell, Friel -- could've high fived, called it a day, and taken a month of victory laps in the media. All at the cost of a ****ing kicker.

A Kicker beats his wife 20 times, the league policy says the minimum penalty is a 6 game fine. His team is owned by the Mara's. He gets one game.

The GOAT QB happens to play in a game where weather naturally reduces the PSI in the football, and no one in the league knows it is natural and happens every time. The maximum penalty is a fine. His team is owned by Bob Kraft, he gets suspended for 4 games, and his team fined a million dollars and docked 2 draft picks.

Integrity.
I hope you don't mind that I copied this, took out the bits about ownership (my friends don't really know anything about that stuff), replaced GOAT QB with Tom Brady and posted it on Facebook. A really succinct post describing the insanity of NFL discipline.

Without even the records, they should have said "if y0ur ex-wife doesn't talk to us, you're getting the full 6 games".

Cripes, brady doesn't hand over his phone and he gets 4 games. This guy's wife goes into hiding and they already have good evidence something's up and he gets 1 game because his wife won't talk??????????

Justice NFL style
