This year, the Patriots are paying receiver Bam Childress almost double the $79,900 practice squad minimum, rewarding him with a $150,000 salary. Meanwhile, running back Kyle Eckel is making $125,000.

Way things been going I just hope it doesn't turn out to be a man-boy love thing

There's an incentive on his part, not to jump if a team offers him a spot on their active roster ($285K/17 weeks x 3 minimum = $50K) because he earns more staying with the Pats...

They've paid guys full player salaries to sit on the PS before too -- generally OL who wound up not quite making it here.

I think two examples are Gorin and Mruck.

I think they paid a full salary to Billy Yates. I heard his agent gushing about how he'd never seen a practice squad guy treated so well. Contrary to the usual use-em-up reputation we have in the media.
