I downloaded a TV show in .avi format . . . can I convert this to an ipod format ? I tried watching on QuickTime, which I was told would work, but it just sat there. Any ideas ??? Thanks.

    MPEG Streamclip
iSquint is a real simple to use converter. But, it's Mac only.

Thanks, seems to be working. It's slow, though ;)

Speed depends on the speed of your computer, hard disk, amount of free RAM, size of the file you are converting and output size of final file. I usually go with 50% quality and 128 KBs audio when converting a file to MP4 or for a video iPod. I actually find MPEG Streamclip quite speedy.
