I don't believe it was the traffic I think what really did them in was the four hours of tailgating in the parking lot once they got there.

Waltham to Gillette is about 40 minutes with no traffic. On a weeknight when the Pats have a game to get there in a 1hr20 min is actually not even that bad.

Look at th challenge on the fumbled kickoff that. Only after Lechler told him did he challenge. Aren't they supposed to have coaches upstairs watching that? That is something that starts at the top......
