Just curious ... I'm a Home Depot guy.

Sorry to those in other parts of the country that have different stores.

There are 2 Home Depots in my immediate area. One in MA and one just over the border in NH. I discovered Lowes when I lived in Las Vegas and still prefer it. I always find things that seem to be exactly what I'm looking for there. I'm even more willing to go to a Lowes in 6.5% sales tax MA over the Home Depot in wonderful tax free NH :). Having said that I don't have any objection to HD. I do shop there. I just have a harder time finding exactly what I want.

The customer service is better at Lowe's, everything else is about the same.

They built a huge Lowe's nearby, minimal traffic, every time I go in there get asked at least 15 times if someone can help me.. almost to the point that I do not want to go in there, because there are too many "helpful" people.

Like the exchange policy at both.. coke or pepsi???

There 2 HD's in Quincy (God knows why they kept both), and a Lowes in Weymouth where the Harborlight mall was. All have great service, but lately they've been understaffing the stores, more specifically the checkout lines. NOONE there working the regular checkouts. So you're forced to use that stupid self checkout thing. I just want to get in and out, not mess with a checkout machine.

Lowes probably, but Home Depot is a lot closer. Lowes seems to aim for slightly more upscale stuff inasmuch as big box retail gets upscale, so I tend to favor it. But HD is good for quick tool and parts runs.

I once asked a guy at HD where they kept heat shrink tubing and nobody had a clue what it even was. I checked out electric since that made the most sense and there it was.

I prefer the self check outs. I use them every where they're available. I only hate when all the self check outs are full of slow pokes.

I'm a fan of those as well and use them at the grocery store. So much quicker - especially when you only need to pick up one thing.

    No Jersey Selected

Lowes is SO much better in my experience, but HD seems cheaper when I don't care about quality. Not that I've been in either since 2006, mind you.
