HOF Voter leonard Shapiro of the Wash Post Repeats Tomase's Libel

Is this what we have to look forward to if the Pats continue to win.

I have intercepted the thought processes of Patriots haters. Here it is:

Patriots haters said:
The evidence that stealing defensive signals was vitally important to winning three Super Bowls is provided by the fact that they haven't won any since.

If, however, they do win another Super Bowl, we must conclude that they have found new ways to break the rules.

Three years ago or so i posted how nice it would be for easterbrook to get a 'Talking to' like Joe pescie and his brother did at the end of the movie Casino. It lasted about five minutes before someone removed it.

That's why I added the :D and the :p

So it won't get removed....cuz it's a "joke"

Maybe you & I should meet with them Flex.

I found the column to be rather amusing.

Although it does seem rather sad that a column in a major newspaper by a "NFL HOF Selection Committee" member doesn't read any differently from a fan post you would find on the GangGreen forums or the forums of any rival team for that matter.

Anyway, it was only a matter of time before stuff like this would start surfacing.

After the Pats defeated the Jets by such a wide margin, I felt they would obviously get a lot of attention from the media - and even more if they followed that up with wins over Chicago and then Green Bay. With that I knew that some sportswriters would feel compelled to bring up SG in their columns.

First of all it was a huge ratings bonanza for those writers and their publishers; they've seen nothing like it before or since. Then there are writers like Shapiro who have an axe to grind because Belichick makes their job harder to do, with fewer quotes and less access to other players, coaches and practices. There's also surely more than a few writers who don't like BB for not answering their stupid questions, but then see him elaborate for several minutes when he's asked an intelligent question by someone else.

Just like clockwork, there was the King article two days ago with an SG reference. Now it's like dominos: Easterbrook's column yesterday, and now Shapiro's. Don't forget Sando's comments about the Pats a couple weeks ago after Scar Jr was fired too.

Remember when Michael Silver had his column about the 'growing disconnect between Brady and the Pats' a few months ago? After that it seemed like every NFL writer in the country wrote a column on the same topic. My guess is that we're going to see something similar: the number of 'Pats are playing great, but SG questions linger' columns are going to increase exponentially very soon. As long as the Pats keep winning, these type of articles are only going to increase, right through the playoffs. Should the Pats get that far, the number of times SG is mentioned between the AFCCG and the SB will be off the charts.

It is what it is; these columnists are going to write about it and if they don't their editor and publisher will tell them to do so. It won't die down until the Pats win another Super Bowl - though, as somebody previously mentioned then the new story will be 'what are they improperly doing now'.

With that in mind we may need to set up one mega-thread for all the 'media bashing Pats, dredging up SG' stories that there will inevitably be.

Who cares? None of this c@#$ is relevant or true so why waste time thinking, agonizing or paying any attention to any of it.

We should live in today and enjoy the moment and what this team has accomplsihed thus far and what they could potentially accomplish going forward.

I read not only articles, but comments and message boards excessively (I'm obsessed, what can I say?) One thing I've noticed is that recently the tide is turning on SpyGate. It seems that the casual fan, and even those with a deep hatred of the Patriots, are really starting to revolt against these articles. Check out the comments on both this article, the NY Post article before the Jets game, and Easterbrook's, and you'll see that about 90% of the fans are absolutely scathing of these writers. I think that, finally the dust is clearing and people are understanding that this was really overblown. Primarily the reason was, I think most fans were just spoon-fed the league decision and pundits' analysis when SpyGate actually happened, and the opinion formed was that the Patriots had really done something that no other team would or could ever do, which was the sole reason for their success. After having years to settle down, take a deep breath, consider what actually happened vs. the hype, and looking at what the team has done since then, fans realize what a steaming pile of crap that story was.

At least the guy gets drilled in the comments section.

What?? How will the pats fans know the slander and smear campaign unless someone posts such links here? I am glad to read the comments posted under the article by tunescribe and other fans.

for my part, I have already emailed Peter King - in a nice manner, providing him with the link of BB's CBS interview, Bill Cowher's and Jimmy Johnson's comments - and requested him to frame the so-called 'spy' gate in an impartial manner and whether it was really overblown.

Subsequent to this Post article, I forwarded this link to Peter King and requested him again to consider my request. Who knows what agenda motivates the reporting. But as a fan, i am not going to sit and ignore these slanders without pushing back in terms of comments.

The problem with this is that they obviously don't care what you have to offer them. They probably already know the information that you give to them and it doesn't matter. They're still going to peddle this crap out there because it *WAIT FOR IT* gets click and ad revenue. So yes, keep clicking those links and keep sending those e-mails and keep voicing that outrage. In return, the MSM will keep cranking articles like this out and the cycle will begin again.

If you have to comment of these type of articles please keep on emphasizing the penalty the Pats paid; and what the Jets should have to pay for a greater offense, that threatened a player's career.

Everytime these dingbats write such an article, please include in your replay, repeat after me:

"Forfeit the Jet's First round Draft pick and fine them more then $750,000 dollars on the Team, and suitable amounts on the Coaches too."
