January 27, 2008 -- When you've missed four of the last five games, you do anything you can to find a way to contribute. So nickel back Kevin Dockery has been watching film of the Patriots and he thinks he found a way to slow down one of the most potent offenses in NFL history:

Hit the New England wide receivers until they say, "Uncle!"

"We always feel we want to play physically every week,'' said Dockery, who has been shelved most of the last five games with a hip flexor injury. "To beat up the receivers, that's our No.1 goal. In the Chargers game (against the Patriots), we saw how physical they were."

Listen, Cramden, if that was supposed to be the introduction to Giants trolls, you really need to step it up. :D

    Dockery is really brilliant.

That is why he is a nickel back.

he's the first one to figure that out all year.

How did that brilliant strategy work for Corey webster against Donald Driver in the NFC Championship game (90 yard touchdown Pass after Webster fell down).

These Giants will never shut the f up.

They are going to get reamed

I don't remember seeing our receivers getting beat up nearly as bad as the passes our QB was throwing.

Ralph Kramden? Spelled with a K.

Patriots know about beating up receivers. See Super Bowl XXXVI.

"Hit'em when they have the ball, and hit'em when they don't have the ball."

Yes it is but the story on how I got that name and why there's a C instead of K is too long to mention here.

Eh, that's actually a smart strategy against this Pats team, in my opinion. The closest game this season, against the Ravens, had the Patriots receivers mauled on every play. It seemed as though the secondary was daring the refs to call PI on every single play, which simply wasn't going to happen. The plan almost worked, too, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Giants employ a similar strategy. The difference, however, is that the Ravens secondary is better than the Giants...I see Moss torching these guys for at least two long bombs before the game is over.

    Well, whatever :)

The Baltimore game had it's issues but also the worst wind we've had.
The SD game, there were wide open WR, Brady just struggled (maybe due to the flu, whatever it was, there were chances).

Now, against "this" defense, everyone point to the NYG and Philly games as Philly is were the DC is from :

    Combined :

66-96, 736 Yards, 3 TD, 0 INT. That's (slightly) better completion % than for the season and a slightly words YPA than for the season, no turnovers and was done in worse weather than we'll have next week.

    Two things:

    1. The Chargers lost
    2. The Patriots can put three TEs out there and run over "tough" DBs

    Hasn't this been observed before?

    Hasn't it been tried before?

Hasn't every team that tried it failed over the course of a 60 minute game?

Wasn't there a rule change, er, emphasis, due to this tactic being used in another game in the not so distant past? Damn, if I could only remember the events of why this emphasis came about.
