This is truly a "what the hell" rationalization.
Court OKs Barring High IQs for Cops - ABC News
This really explains a lot...a LOT!
I have said many times "America is going nuts" I think the real reason is the system is afraid of people like him, he's smarter than they are.

Too funny. I wonder if the department geniuses espousing their theories stopped a second to question why they aren't board with their jobs? :singing:
Lucky thing there is no IQ test for posting as the third pic was of cops in China.
I assume, Cops are Cops no matter where they are, I could be wrong.
Why are you surprised at this?
This what you leftist and your policys have been striving for.
Its just another thing in a very, very long list of twisted, contorted version of what "fairness" is.
When are you people ever going to learn that "the Onion" is not a blog, the onion is YOU!!!
Guess the term "best and brightest" is lost on some PDs.
I know it would make me feel all warm and fuzzy to know my town was turning away the smart guys/gals for fear of them getting bored and instead went with the average types.....thank goodness most other lines of work don't follow this ideal.
OMG I'm an idiot:singing:
Yeah but are you one of the first ones who squawk about the Quinn bill that rewards cops who are college grads?
Not that I know of.
I stand by my statement, the best and the brighest in any field should be the people that get the jobs. No bonus points for this or that. Take a test and may the best man or woman win.
You don't need to go to college to be the best.
What a bunch of BS. My IQ is well above the "average" listed and in the range of the guy who lost his appeal. I don't know of any departments in Mass that test like this. I work with guys who are incredibly smart, including experts in computer forensics, white collar investigations etc...
I said "I could be wrong" I knew cops on the cambridge police dept who should of been running the country.
As sad a this story is, it's also ancient (circa 2000). Why bring it up now? Do they still do these tests?
Yeah, I didn't notice that date until later this afternoon. My bad.
Still interesting....and I don't know if it's changed or not.
I'm not sure why they ran the story as headlines again today - there are alot of comments from today on it....weird.
Story makes sense in the private sector but for a government job it's a horrible decision ... IMO the courts dropped the ball on this one. Also - makes a lot of sense on why it's best to just hand over your license and registration when pulled over - the chances of logic helping you are diminished based on this evidence.
Is anyone really surprised? Look at the power/ego trips the young ones are on. You can tell by the way they walk around that the are dumb as bricks, full of themselves, and think they are the cats meow because they have handcuffs and a badge. You kick a police dog and its assault on an officer (after getting torn up, pepper sprayed, etc), whether you were guilty of the original charge or not. However, they raid your neighbor and deem your dog a threat it is shot with absolutely no recourse. Every citizen should be required to carry, I think it would make a lot of people reconsider a lot of things. General respect for others I'm sure would sky rocket. I think it was a town in Texas that did this, crime was essentially non existent.
