As long as they don't lose 2 of the next 3, they nail down homefield advantage for the playoffs.

That means that, for the next 7 weeks (if all goes well) they are landlocked in Foxboro and their only trip is the quickie to Buffalo.

That's pretty good for franchise-wide logistics.

So they would get the following:
    Home
    Buffalo
    Home
    Bye (at home)
    Home

Now compare that to some other teams that may be coming to Foxboro in the playoffs:

    SD as the #6 seed:
    Home
    Cincinnati
    Denver
    Road (KC, Indy, Jacksonville)
    Foxboro

    Jags as the #6 seed:
    Indy
    Home
    Houston
    Road (KC, Indy, SD)
    Foxboro

    Jets as the #6 seed:
    Pittsburgh
    Chicago
    Home
    Road (KC, Indy, SD, Jacksonville)
    Foxboro

Don't forget that the Pats were playing their 4th roadie in 5 weeks when they lost to the Colts in the 2006 AFCC game.

Good point--does look the ducks are all in a row.

Feels like such a long time the Pats had a shot like this--which is ridiculous, of course. Guess I did get spoiled this decade.

I'm still pinching myself that they're 11-2 with inside track to the No. 1 seed. Totally beyond my expectations. And the last two weeks they've been playing like champions. Amazing. :rocker:

Got to agree, didn't think it would happen! Not this season anyway!

Yessir. I don't mind at all that they have wildly exceeded expectations.

Adds some extra joy to my otherwise rather bleak holiday season.

I love the fact that for the next 43 days or so ( not counting any chickens - if everything goes well), the organization can basically hunker in the bunker.

Yup, and emerge from the bowels of Gillette fresh and rested onto the frozen tundra to do battle. If this team gets the No. 1 seed I say it goes all the way.

i am trying to keep it real. yes, things look amazingly good for the Pats OUTTA NOWHERE.

but in the playoffs, anything (bad) can happen. i'm trying without much luck to keep my hopes and expectations from going to you know where.

    #11 Jersey

This conversation has me a bit queasy.

But yes, knowing that they'll be in Eastern Standard Time for the duration is good stuff.

Why don't you expect the 6th seed to be beaten while the patriots are in their bye week? The #4 or #5 seed seem more likely opponents for the patriots.

    - Didn't say I expected it. Just said it may happen.
    - The 3rd seed will play at home, not fitting my "team coming into Foxboro road-weary while the Pats have been comfy at home" theme.

Now if global warming will hold off for the next month....Would love to see Miami come to get a dose of single digit cold and snow at the end of the season then make the playoffs and come BACK to the frozen tundra. What a hoot...they would be screaming like the Sabine Virgins...how unfair...

Hence the "7 Week" part of the title, Froob.
