    First, the Goats:

    --The entire defense
--Josh McDaniels/Bill Belichick for that ridiculous offense
--Laurence Maroney for pissing of the coaches and making them resort to a ridiculous offense
--Matt Light and Nick Kaczur for turnstile blocking
--Randall Gay played a very poor game
--No pressure from the defensive line
--The refs not only called a bogus OPI on Moss, they called Ghost's FG incorrectly. Replays showed that it was in.

    Heroes:

    --Asante Samuel
    --Wes Welker
    --Tom Brady
--Adalius Thomas did an excellent job in containing and limiting Westbrook

How in the world did we win?

i dont think its Maroney's fault..like McDaniels said..his role depends on a week to week basis depending on the other team.

"The other team" has a top run D and a weak pass D..kind of like Vikings last year

I don't know that it did. We know that it went (from his POV) to the left. What I didn't see from that is where the ball was relative to the goalpost when it did. My guess--and I have no evidence to support this--is that it went wide left before it went over the goalpost.

nope, they showed a little diagram....didnt u see it? the background turned yellow, which means that the ball went throught the uprights, when the ball was still inside and slightly above the pole...that FG was good

The replay showed that when it crossed the back of the end zone it was still within the posts. That's why they showed the yellow area to show what was out side the posts. The trajectory they showed stopped as soon as the ball crossed the back of the end zone.

    The kick was good.

    Yep, ya did.:)

The NFL needs instant replay on field goals. Imagine that happens in the Super Bowl.

They showed a replay where it showed the bottom tip of the ball cross the goal-post, a head-on shot, not a back shot...I thought it was no good.

And seriously the guy down there has a view that is so much better than any camera, which is why these kicks are not reviewable.

Don't forget Gost' and that missed field goal of his!

The Pats couldn't get pressure and couldn't defend the middle of the field. If you saw the game, you know those two things are true. Overall, the defense was average and that is an insult to a defense will stars such as AD, Bruschi, Vrabel, Harrison, Warren, Wilfork, Seymour, Colvin, et al.

I think this game puts the Pats back on Earth. No way should any team be favored by over three touchdowns and no team should believe they will blow out any team... even the Dolphins!

McD got it wrong this week...

The Pats played like they were from behind from the whole game.

Most football teams should strive for a balanced "O" because it opens up the playbook. Glass and Faulk got no room to run and they couldn't play decent play-action since they never even pretended to have a running game.

McD needs to come up with something different next week...Humble pie will be served with a side of WTF this week.

They should just set up some kind of a laser system and eliminate all doubt.

Friggin Goat of the Game was that mutton-head Matt Light. 2 frigging motion penalties at home with no crowd noise? What the F8CK was wrong with him. I would have benched him.

Oh. OK. That does suck, then (to have first a TD then a FG waived off).

Every so often you need a 60 minute game to get the coaches/players in tune for playoff football. The team didn't play well, got manhandled on the line of scrimmage. That should shame them into 2 weeks of good football, and they'll probably need it in Baltimore and vs. Pitt. The defensive game plan was shoddy, over-relying on goofy blitzes, throwing the same garbage they threw at Feeley in the loss at Miami when he burned them. O game plan was too cute, the players were too relaxed after the opening INT, hearing that they'd already won the division before the game started probably released some nervous tension necessary to keep adrenaline high and led to lackluster effort at times.

As for the Eagles... it's pretty clear they have very solid personnel, something we've known for a long time. McNabb has been killing them with his inconsistent play. I wouldn;t be surprised if the Eagles go on a nice streak off of this effort, like they did with Garcia last year. They have a dominant O-line and a special player in Westbrook. Dawkins is back and the D-line is young and strong in the middle.

The Pats underestimated this opponent watching the Eagles' performance vs. the Cowboys 2 weeks ago and they got embarrassed, if a victory over a solid club is ever an embarassment.

I could be wrong, but I thought the FG was no good.

All in all, I'm very happy with this win, as it gives BB something to shove down their throat for a month. A little real humility instead of cooked up "humble pie" could help them going forward.

I thought Vrabel did a very good job shutting down Westbrook on his side of the field. They stopped running that way because Westbrook would go nowhere. Also, Vrabel was the only guy who put decent pressure of Feeley at all.

Pees needs to be a goat for not adjusting the defense to not expose the middle part of the field.

I felt the safeties overall did a bad job. Harrison got burnt quite a bit. If Meriweather isn't getting playing time because Baker is better, exactly how bad is Meriweather? Baker sucked tonight. Sander made some big plays, but gave up some big plays too.

I don't know if Maroney did anything wrong. It wasn't like they were running the ball with Faulk, Evans, or Eckel. It was just a weird, bad gameplan.

Seau did a good job with Westbrook. I wanted to kill a handful of the guys in that secondary.

The cameras have a much better view.

They do it electronically. When the ball crossed the line, it was within the posts. It's very easy to see. If the ball was in the yellow area when it crossed, it would have been a missed field goal. But it didn't. It was good.

This is simple geometry. It's not hard to do. The ref at the bottom is more fallible in this situation since the goal posts do not rise infinitely into the air. The TV replay however draws a straight line upward from each post.

    Ghost's kick was good.
