A Tale of Two Homes

    Home #1:

    A 20 room mansion (not including 8 bathrooms) heated by natural gas. Add on a pool (and a pool house) and a separate guest house, all heated by gas. In one month this residence consumes more energy than the average American household does in a year. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2400 per month.. In natural gas alone, this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. This house is not situated in a Northern or Midwestern 'snow belt' area.. It's in the South.

    Home #2

    Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university. This house incorporates every 'green' feature current home construction can provide. The house is 4,000 square feet (4 bedrooms) and is nestled on a high prairie in the American southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat-pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground.

    The water (usually 67 degrees F) heats the house in the winter and cools it in the summer The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas and it consumes one-quarter the electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system. Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Surrounding flowers and shrubs native to the area enable the property to blend into the surrounding rural landscape. The heating/cooling system is so efficient that initial plans to install solar panels were canceled.

    ~~~~~
    HOME #1 is outside of Nashville , Tennessee ;
    it is the abode of the 'Environmentalist' Al Gore.
    HOME #2 is on a ranch near Crawford , Texas ;
    it is the residence of the former President of the United States , George W. Bush.
    Yes, it's "An inconvenient truth.."
    I sure hope this gets passed to everyone!
    And, yes ... I DID check Snopes prior to forwarding it.
    Bush is very wise with regards to this, an oil man who knows that we are closing in on the end of fossil fuel.. this has been discussed and acknowledged before.. but he does not live here any more.
    As far as Gore goes.. he is what he is..just another politician.
    I think Bush would have supported global warming if it was not for the pressure of the Republican Party. He made a number of sympathetic statements about global warming, and his home seems to offer proof of his concern. Al Gore demonstrates his concern through his constant advocacy for the issue. I suppose Al Gore is sort of like a rich preacher who delivers sermons about our obligations to the poor.
    Luke 12:33
    Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.
    Here is that assumption stuff again, check my 16K posts have never said anything in praise of Al or what he says.. the problem is you assume that everyone on the left thinks alike, like everyone on the right.. while in reality the left espouses independent thought and discussion, not lockstep lemming behavior.
    In other words, Bush walked the walk without trying to make a new career out it.
    As to your quotation from scripture, Jesus is talking about making eternal treasure, "... treasure in the heavens...", not an earthly one. He is saying that when all is said and done you can't take the gold with you, so you better share the blessing while you can, which is while you are on this earth. The final stop is where we harvest what we cultivated (gave out to others) here.
    I DO know Bush is not out there for the past 10 years thumping his "global warming/climate change/whatever it's called now" screed to all the innocents of the world, as he then returns home via a multi-SUV motorcade/private air planes and helicopters to a home that uses some TEN TIMES the national average!!!!! As Al Gore does.
    Unfortunately, fear mongoring sells for the Democrats.........
    Al Gore to his personal assistant. "Fuel up the private jet I have a speaking engagement with 5th graders in San Diego that MSNBC wants to cover."
    You make no sense, you want to put Bush on a pedestal for his energy conservation and then when you find out he now lives in an 8500 sq ft house.. you revert to Gore.. the reality is that politicians are politicians, they all have common threads pandering, stealing and lying..
    You motorcade comments are disengenuous and have been pointed out ad infinitum, it is how the secret service rolls...
    I see you are trying to gloss over the point that a self proclaimed environmentalist spend $30000 for energy on his house........the fact remains that he is a hypocrite and nothing bush does changes that one bit
    bush doesn't sit there and brag about his views
