And i not sure if this belonged in the football or religious so feel free to move it...

I dread church services tomorrow. My Pastor out here in Kansas City is a huge football fan. I swear, if he brings up the Patriots as signs of our times or anything i may just lose it. :)

    Go Patriots!!!!!

Seems like you could go a few ways here:
    1. Say nothing and let it slide knowing that he is wrong
    2. Tell the congregation that the Pastor is misguided and then fill them in on the facts
    3. Bring up the long and well documented history of organized religion cheating the masses and that what happened recently is not a new phenomenon

Just jump up and start speaking in tongues, then ask the pastor if he can translate those signals from the spirit realm.

    Fellers,

Well, beings how I worship at the Church of the Holy Uprights, I don't often have that problem. Each Sunday Morning (or Gameday, if it ain't Sunday) I place my offering(s) on the Patriots Shrine in my TV room, and listen to the various sermons from the Pastors of Pontificating Parlance from my Patriots-themed pew. After the various Sermonatings are complete, we have communion at the Altar of the Holy Tailgate, wherein "mass" quantities of the "fruits of the earth" are consumed, and the results meditated upon whilst the High Priest of New England & his Accolytes form a procession to eneter the Church of the Four Quarters.

Depending upon how well the service is going, their may be much rejoicing anf Hallelullas, and from some still taking communion, the occasional speaking in tongues. Our faith, however, is strong, regardless of how often it is tested by the Dark Lords of the Broadcast Realm, and the Demons of the Underworld which inhabit the soulless-voids of NY, Pittsburgh, Indy and other distant lands.

After the service has ended, we gather to rejoice and thence to rest and await the next saabbat wherein we shall once more be as one family, united in faith and eager anticipation of the coming of the rapture of the Superbowl and the rewards which once more shall belong to the faithful ones.

Jesus was looked down as an outcast... David as well... Noah was out of his goard the other people said.

Plenty of the best people in history were looked down at, yet were 10 steps ahead of the rest.

Henry Ford was fired from his own company... went bankrupt twice. People thought he was a loon.

    Some food for thought.

This will play out in the long run to Belichicks benefit in my opinion. He will try harder than ever to win, because of the slanted press, the opposing dumb bunnies (coaches and players) on other teams, and of course the uber fickle fans of other teams.

I know how you feel, there is an outgoing pastor around where I live that praises the Colts. "Dungy is easily the best coach in the league, and God blessed the Colts because the Colts are christian."

    Yeah, whatever Buckwheat...

Yes, it is an appropriate day to discuss cheating, not relevant here since there is no NFL against "cheating".

It also an important day to discuss trying to bend the law, to break it as long as you dont get caught, and then say you didn't know any better. It is a day to discuss ethics at work. It is a day to discuss being a role model. It is a time to discuss life priorities.

May we all have these issues in proper order in our own lives!

Just as it's a day to discuss the spiritual implications of righteously judging and condemning one's fellow man.

    Disable Jersey

When you deliberately miscast events, as you have on thread after thread, you are being dishonest. And, since you are being dishonest on thread after thread, you are also being a hypocrite. I'm not sure, but I'm pretty confident that such activities run precisely against all your ranting.

You could ask that one of the hymns for the day include Larry Johnsons's rap song dissing the Chiefs GM and Priest Holms...if anyone got the words before it was taken down from his myspace or facebook site...forget which one.

I guess you just don't get it, do you. We just don't care about this whole thing...period, end of story. You can't and won't MAKE care anymore by posting these comments. We don't care what you or the rest of the country think.

We're Patriots Nation and damn proud of it. We are united and stronger than ever because of all this media assault. We love Belichick and want him signed to an extended contract with a $500,000 bonus!

Watch tomorrow night as you see our fans give the Patriots players the loudest & proudest ovation ever. And tell everyone over at Chargers.com I said hello.

Go ahead & discuss cheating if you like. Just don't make any stupid statements that imply Patriots fans should feel any less pride in being a Pats fan! You have a heavy air of holier than thou that rises like thick black smoke from the words you write.

If you want to discuss cheating, by all means, go ahead. Just make sure you discuss how it is wrong to make a scapegoat out of people first. then discuss how you should never judge others for making mistakes...as in "May he who is without sin, cast the first stone"!
