Has anyone really even thought of or missed Harrison or Seymour these first 2 games?

Has anyone here even had a thought of either guy not playing in the first two games once the first kickoff went off in week 1? - I can't say either one of them has even crossed my mind during, before or after these games went by.

Needless to say the more depth we have the better and those 2 guys are important cogs in this Patriots defensive machine but I must admit that so far in the first two games neither player has crossed my mind about missing him in action,Almost barely noticable which is how good this defense has held up without them right now.

James Sanders and Jarvis Green have made me forget these two guys right now - How About You?

I must also give great compliments to Dean Pees who I think has been the best defensive coordinator this team has EVER seen and that goes back to great ones like Crennel,Mangini:bricks:,Rod Rust even Belichick himself ect:

We haven't had a chance to miss those guys, the games have never been close.

yes..I did think about Rodney and Big Sey...and I DO think the team misses Rodney a lot more..Could see him with Gates..knocking some of teh 3rd down passes to him away..or hitting him soon and getting him out of the passing routes.. BUT..that is really all...Sanders has done a great job!! His open field tackling is superb!! Green always is tops..can not wait till both are back and the D is even stronger!! Pees has done a wonderful job!!

They've crossed my mind, but I do think you're right about not noticing/needing them much at all so far. That changes when injuries hit, obviously, but one thing your post made me think of was how NOBODY EVER NOTICES or gives credit to the Pats when they win despite major injuries to important players or to multiple players at one position. It gets mentioned once a telecast, I guess, but over the years, it doesn't seem to sink in with people outside the N.E. area. Which is FINE with me. Let them sleep on it, and then see what we're like when we get arguably our two BEST defensive playmakers back.

    *knock on wood*

Don't want to get too c0cky. The Patriots are fortunate to have had great health through the first couple of weeks. Though thankfully I still like the depth on the team.

This year, unlike your SB years, the sum of your parts are greater than your whole. Conversely, at the end of the season, we will see that the Colts, as a team, are greater than the sum of their parts. Would you agree that this statement could be said for your SB winning years??

Re: Has anyone really even thought of or missed Harrison or Seymour these first 2 gam

Well, I guess you could say that if you also were willing to acknowledge that the whole was greater than the sum of the parts in our non-superbowl seasons as well, just didn't turn out to be enough in three out of the last 6 seasons.

I'd say now we have a potential all star offense to match an always (barring injury to Rodney) exceptional defense. And you now have appear to have an exceptional defense (barring injury to Sanders) to match what has long been maintained as an all star offense.

So as rivals we're up 3-1 where it matters pending a no excuses season. We can't even cheat any more, but then neither can anyone else now. Of course injuries can and do happen, so depth could be an issue. But it can't really be an excuse, even for a team with all 9 draft picks making the roster and 14 players without a lick of NFL experience at least (several of whom will be active weekly), since roster construction like life is all about choices.

I have thought of Rodney and Seymour during these games thinking that if they were in there, I doubt either team (NYJ/SD) scores 14.

The level of intensity on D goes up when Rodney is in there and eventhough the D's level of intensity is already up, when Rodney gets back, oh man. WR's should start shuddering his return now.

This just shows you doon't know the meaning of the term, "greater than the sum of their parts". The team that beat the Rams in the SB were clearly playing above their accumulative talent level. This year's team are actually playing like they're supposed to. Their depth at all positions are an organizational asset. Their players are more experienced (O,D-line) and their offensive weapons are much more diverse and talented. I don't get your anaology or comparison.

I don't see how anyone could say that yet. Who's to say that this team won't play beyond its talent?

I think what is fair to say is that this year there is a general consensus that our parts are great.

    I'll type slow:

Y-o-u-r t-e-a-m r-e-m-i-n-d-s m-e o-f t-h-e 2005 COLTS. The Colts remind me of a team that doesn't worry about stats and just wins. Sound familiar? Boy, that Brady sure is a stat whore.

Is that why Cassel came into the game in the middle of the fourth quarter today? Is that why the Pats ran it on fourth down late in the fourth quarter to give the ball back to the Bills instead of putting more points on the board? Frickin moron.

No, but it IS why Brady threw late in the fourth (3 minutes to play) versus the Jets in week 1, up by 17. Frickin moron.

Well that could have something to do with the fact that they were playing the Jets. And way to try and side skirt my questions.

Under the circumstances of that day, they should've gone for 2 instead of kicking the extra point.

Never ends with you guys, ALWAYS an excuse. LOL. Brady is now a stat monger, you used to embrace the "just win" attitude, but now are giddy like a school girl.

Re: Has anyone really even thought of or missed Harrison or Seymour these first 2 gam

MY arguement is that you look like the Colts of '05. Agree?? At least on offense (D too, because they were good in scoring D). The COLTS on the other hand, have just been winning. Similar to how the Pats used to do it. In years past, you [Mod Edit: very respectable people] would complain about Manning being a stat guy, now your boy is racking up some impressive, yet meaningless, numbers. Don't give me the "it was the Jets" bs. ******* run the ball, and get the hell out of there with a win.
