I read the book and thought that it was a good read, I also saw the mini-series that they did and while it had some big names, it really needed an FX or HBO treatment i. e. R rating.

IT was another monster book that he wrote that was also a good read, mini-series was only fair.

King's books almost never translate to film very well.

Shawhank Redemption and The Green Mile were as good as the books I thought but other than that I agree.

I have read the Stand, its a pretty good read, but the thing I'd warn you about with King is his endings tend to let you down. After the Stand, I would suggest you check out King's Dark Tower. It is considered his Opus.

Read 'The Stand' and "Tommyknockers'. Decent reads but this voracious reader doesn't get too excited about King.

Have you seen The Mist? Good lord, that movie was horrible.

EDIT: I take that back. It was only terrible. It got downgraded because I rather enjoyed watching "The Sherminator" from that disasterous American Pie series get killed off first.

Needful things was actually a good read, one of the ones I actually enjoyed the ending of as well. Dreamcatcher was hard to get through.

    Anyway, Enjoy the read Keegs.

ok i just finished this beast of a book, it was 1152 pages.

I thought it was awesome, and i just found out that the version i read is the long version, and that the older short version has a different ending.

    it was definitely worth it.

That's the one I read, wait til you get into the Dark Tower series, that's a whip and a lot of reading. Roland is such a good character.

Bag of Bones is another King book I read that I enjoyed. One of the few he wrote that gave me chills while I read it.

actually, i read on wikipedia that they might do graphic novels for it, b/c King's "dark tower" graphic novels were very successful.

who knows if there's any truth to that or not.

It's a really cool story though.

I've seen the graphic novels in he store but have yet to pick them up myself. Kind of weird being in my 30s buying comic books LOL. Don't want to be labelled as "that wierd guy"

I've read most of King's stuff and The Stand is still my favorite. Loved that book. The Dark Tower series was great too, I waited until all 7 books were out and read them all in a row last summer. Great read as well, I can't imagine people that started reading them when they first came out and had to wait to see how the story ended (They were published over something like 20 years).

I also liked "It" but that one seems to be more hit or miss, some people love it, some people don't like it at all. Tommyknockers is solid though, as other people have mentioned.
