Grogan is the player that led to me becoming a Patriots fan way back in the mid 70s and is still fondly remembered by long-time Pats fans.

In looking up some info about him I stumbled upon this article and was glad to see that even today he is still involved in football.

TRAVIS LAZARCZYK: A new generation of fans introduced to Grogan, King | The Kennebec Journal, Augusta, ME

With 16 seasons as a Patriot, the best info I can find is that he is tied for the most. Does anyone know else would have 16 years?

Happy Birthday Steve ! Truly one of my alltime favorite Pats, and a true warrior. I believe he still holds the record for most rushing TD's by a QB in a season with 12. And he is one of the players that got me into the Pats, Mack Herron in 1974 got me interested in the Pats, and Grogan to Stingley made me a fan. Of course loved Russ Francis, Sam Cunningham and Steve Nelson. But Grogan is one of my alltime favorites.

Grogs should have started that game against the Bears....period. I will never forget that or how HE got us there in the first place.

Wasn't he one of the last NFL QB's to call all his own plays?

could never do that now with all the sub packages ... it was fun to watch.

He was one of my favorite Patriots ... always thought he would be a coach.

I remember watching Grogan in 85-86 when I was a kid. He looked 60 then.

I have never asked ANY sports personality for an autograph..ever.

I would shave my azz and walk upside down dressed in hunter green blubbering "Og Og Og !J-T-S-E" for a Steve Grogan autograph. You have to understand something...I have been a Pats fan since the start. I have been battered and beaten by 2-14 seasons and 52-10 losses and held season tickets for twenty years through the worst of it. Why? You hit me I get back up and I start swinging again...EVERY TIME. You may defeat me but you'll NEVER beat me. I'm not bragging, that's how I was brought up and that is how my friends and my family are. In for a penny, in for a pound. I've lived through shyt in southern New England that would curl most other people from other places' toes. I AM a die hard true blue Patriots HOMER and gd'ed proud of it...and there is no player in Pats history that ever approximated my mindset and that of my friends and family more than STEVE GROGAN. That man IS THE man, a tougher player I HAVE NEVER witnessed. I would be beyond proud to have HIS autograph

I continue to be amazed that I know the names Owens and Cavanaugh. When the Patriots had no O-line to give Plunkett 2 seconds they did not fix the line. They traded Plunkett and started Grogan. Best personnel move in the Sullivan era.

I became a Patriot Fan beginning of 1976 season ( also Vikings Tarkenton Fan)It was because of Grogan. His flea flicker bombs and running and just his gritty play which probably took a toll on him. Neck brace and all he was a true leader. Plus living here in NY, It was so cool to go to games and watch him destroy Jets here and at Sullivan-Foxboro Stadium.
