Well that just confirms about Hank Williams, Jr. what everyone already knew.

That being said: Thank God. That intro made me want to shove ice picks in my ears.

ESPN is replacing Tirico and Gruden with Ted Nugent and Cat Stevens.

After all, everyone knows people watch football because of the political views of old singers.

Stupid comment no matter if you like Obama or not, he shouldn't be compared to Hitler.

That said, I don't know if it was fireable offense.

I for one am glad he is gone and not because of these comments, but because the opening is stale and stupid.

You didn't actually read the article, did you?

Also, Bush was compared to Hitler just about 24/7. About the only time he wasn't getting that comparison was when he was being called a chimp.

Hey guys, see you in the political forum! Seriously, please name me one sane person who has ever compared someone to Hitler. In my lifetime, I referred the killing of Bin Laden to that of Hitler. Hey, open up the floodgates, I'm sure Hank can treat us to some great analogies. Here's to you Hank: "Turn out the Lights, the parties over".

he'll be back. he helps make MNF what it is.

i mean if TNT and CBS hires Marv Albert after that disgusting incident when he bit a woman in a hotel room and dressed up in women's underwear, Hank Williams has no problem.

Any pop culture/media personality who made a Bush-Hitler comparison (I realize it wasn't a direct comparison, but linking analogizing Hitler and the POTUS while making a point is still a pretty dumb thing to do) would have faced sanctions as well, I'd imagine.

I'm pretty sure Bill Maher lost all his corporate sponsorship for saying something that shouldn't have warranted such a response.

And we probably shouldn't go down the chimp road...

So this means I don't have to hear that god-awful song anymore? Fantatic, they've stuck with that crap for about a decade too long.

The thing is, he wasn't comparing the actions of Obama to the actions of Hitler. He was just trying to illustrate how far apart Boehner and Obama are politically.

Was it a clumsy simile? Yes. Was his intent to say Obama is Hitler? No.

While he could very well hate Obama as much as he hates Hitler, that wasn't his point in this case.

No....he won't, and MNF doesn't need him. Think of the long line of announcers who have sat in the booth and have not come back. He freakin' sings the opening song. MNF exec's are googling right now finding the next Faith Hill, not Hank Williams.

The difference is that Marv Albert is a good announcer.

The Williams opener is arguably the best sports opener in television history. I can only think of 2 that even come close, and one is a visual.
