Nearly half of Detroit's workers are unemployed | detnews.com | The Detroit News
It's the sad, end result of a union labor. The unions were so greedy they drove the corporations away (or bankrupt) and now no one will touch that area with a 10,000 mile pole.
Great thread Obama wants high unemployment because he now has more people with the democrat IV needle in their wallet. Hope and change has been replaced by ball and chain government.
the unions decided what cars to build, how many to build, how to market them.. and decided that the japanese cars were just a fad
Unions are a convenient scapegoat, for corporate decisions made that made no sense and were out of step with the american buyers..
Next we will hear the trite response about legacy costs, interesting no one ever mentions the Military's legacy costs that some believe cost us 1/3 of every tax dollar...
No, the unions were so greedy that they gave the corporations no choice but to leave town - at least the ones that didn't go bankrupt.
Like I said, if you love union labor then Detroit is the thriving, vibrant economy for you.
More idle allegations with no backup... the reality is that the Detroit Car Business is dead because of the decisions on what cars to produce, how many to produce, how they were designed all along ignoring the foreign imports...
All those folks at the top were working for minimum wage, they did it for the "service" to the 'merican people... wonder if these numbers include "legacy costs"....

So now that a Democrat is in charge our new definition of unemployment is anyone who's been negatively affected by this economy at all, whatsoever?
Seems to me that means everyone but bar, liquor store and dollar store owners are now "unemployed."
We need another Ronald "Raygun" to change the way we count
According to people like patters our recession is over, he thinks because job loss numbers have declined a bit the last few months that everything is a-ok! Lets look over the fact that those hundreds of thousands of people still remain out of work and will remain that way for sometime.
We will see numbers pick up after the holidays also, i know our place is waiting till after x-mas to let a few more people go.
Anyone who actually believes the recession is on it's way out is just whistling in the dark and saying, "Nope, I'm not scared....I am NOT scared!"
If you think those companies went bankrupt because the CEO's made $20 million in stock options, you're even more clueless than we all already thought you were.
