I have no idea if this is for real, but these hackers seem to be unprincipled by every measure. IT also seems unbelievable that Price Waterhouse would not have provided extra safeguards for Rmoney's tax returns. At any rate, if they're telling the truth then I bet they'll get the ransom.

Mitt Romney’s tax returns are reportedly in the hands of a team of hackers who plan on releasing them publicly at the end of the month unless a ransom is paid.

The group allegedly obtained the files from PricewaterhouseCooper’s Tennessee office on Aug. 25, in what was described on PasteBin as a Mission Impossible-like caper:

    ....

The files are to be released to the public on Sept. 28, according to the PasteBin document.

The release, however, could allegedly be avoided if Romney’s camp were to wire transfer $1 million in Bitcoins — an online currency that is difficult both to trace and to identify.

So let me guess how this will work... some time near the 28th these anonymous people will post again saying that they have received the 1 mil from Romney.

It is like the when the Dems in congress said they were going to investigate how Romney was able to 100 million in his retirement fund. There will of course be no investigation because they already know what loopholes he used to do it. And, there is no way they are going to expose those loopholes and have them closed. It is done to create a headline and once it is reported the people that want to believe will.

If they get a million, it's not coming from Romney or his campaign. Surely there are ways to transfer money discretely. I could even see a foreign government paying for it in order to try to screw with the election. Both campaigns will stay away from this with a ten foot pole.

I think if his tax returns are released, it will underscore inequities in our tax system that benefit the wealthy.

I'll also add that if this is true, it's incredible someone can publicly tell someone where to wire the money and not have the money tracked. If that's true, then it's yet another reason that our war on drugs is such a ###### disaster.

Good article on why the libs are obsessed with Romney's Tax returns.

    Romney

Dems don't like that Romney give 14% of his income to charity. Unlike Cheap Drunk Joe and BO.

    I don't believe the story.

If they were sophisticated enough to pull this off they would be asking for a lot more money, but only after they pulled a Julian Assange and got their butts to a place without an extradition treaty with the US and set up an account there to which the money could be wired.

A million dollars in bitcoins or whatever? This is worth many multiples of that to people who will have invested collectively over a billion dollars in the Romney campaign. If the election gets close and it looks like Romney has a legitimate chance to win, they would be worth a hundred million.
