Of all the shyt that goes on in the NFL, this is a completely idiotic fine...

That's ridiculous. At this rate, I am surprised that he wasn't fined for having his picture taken with a porn star who was wearing his jersey.

Maybe it's because he said he was going to keep doing it?

no fine for repeat offender ,Wrecks the Potty Mouth???

strange...like there's a double standard or something

Hopefully Brady takes him out for a $7500 steak dinner

Stupid fine. He wasn't even looking at the defender when he spiked the ball. I hope he appeals it.

If this was a fine leavied against Dustin Keller, I'd still say it was completely absurd. So dumb.

I think he is getting fined today.

The fine is consitant with other fines for similiar.

Wasn't Welker fined $25,000 for doing a snow angel in 2008? Because he "went to the ground" in a celebration? These fines are idiotic, fans LOVE seeing most of this stuff, and the NFL kills the players for it.

This is another example of the NFL having lost its mind. You could see when he spiked the ball, he had no idea that the guy was on the ground. He just spiked it out of excitement.

On a side note, anyone notice a play last night when Brian Dawkins knocked the ball loose from the receiver and got called for a hit on defenseless receiver?

I'm usually more than OK with fines when they come for dangerous play or illegal hits. And I'm even OK with the flag if the official thought that he was spiking the ball to intimidate. But looking at it again, it's obvious he wasn't, so what purpose does the fine have?

It's like The Onion article from earlier today, "NHL's Critics Find No Evidence That Penalty Box Reforms Players".

That was as disgusting a call as I've ever seen in the NFL. What is Dawkins supposed to do in that situation, sprinkle fairy dust on Burress and hope he drops the ball? Apparently, hitting him, or even hitting the ball, which is what he did, is now against NFL rules. And what makes someone a "defenseless" receiver? If it means that anytime he is catching the ball, he is defenseless, then there is no way a defender can ever legally dislodge the ball??? And we wonder why all the passing records are in jeopardy? I HATE this commissioner.

That's what I thought when it happened (and they replayed it ad nauseum). It appeared Gronk didn't even see the other guy - he was just psyched he made the TD. How ridiculous is the NFL getting?

This is effin BS. The NFL is turning more and more into a pansy league. Goodell needs to change his tampon.

Out of curiosity, how much did Marvin Harrison get fined for this?

F*ck you for reminding me of this.

lol, umm, misery loves company?

It was the first thing I thought of when I saw Gronk got flagged. Wish it would've hit a Jet in the face given the resulting penalty and fine.
