he could be worth taking a late round flyer upon.

He is 6'6" 265 and a great pass rusher, or was at one point. Before tearing his knee.

At outside kenny, er, linebacker, once his knee heals. Maybe he'll be the guy shawn crable was supposed to be.

No thanks. I wouldn't even touch the guy. Maybe if he goes undrafted I say invite him to camp but otherwise I'd pass.

I don't know. I would rather take his teammate Jabaal Sheard who is said to be the more technically sound pass rusher.

I would definitely take a chance on Romeus in the 4th round. He has the measurables and a very intruiging skill set, and with the number of picks and limited number of needs, I think we can afford to take a chance on him. I think he has the ability to set the edge and rush the passer, but he is a big ? in pass coverage because he missed most of the season. He looked poor in limited action this season, mainly because of a back injury, but if he's 100% healthy I think he would be a great addition at OLB. His stock is low and he could be an absolute steal in the 4th. He's still raw because of the lack of playing time, but I think if you can bring him along slowly he has a real shot of being at least a solid contributor. His injuries are a slight concern, and he's probably an IR candidate for 2011, but I think if you are patient with him it will pay off. At the very least he will give TBC some competition.

I agree, but only if the doctors clear him.

I completely agree. However, if his injuries are serious and he goes undrafted I would still take him as an UDFA and give him a year on IR to see how he goes. To me the back injury is more of a concern than the knee injury. The way medical science is improving knee injuries can be fixed, but back injuries really scare me.

Amen my brother! Back and neck injuries have to be investigated. And even if we do take Romeus as an UDFA or a late round draft pick and IR him like we did with Weston, that would give his back time to heal, him time to learn the terminology and work some on technique and maybe he can start contributing in year two.

That would be my preference with Romeus to ease him into the system because he is still so raw. Even if his injuries aren't too serious I think a year on IR would be beneficial to learn the system as long as we arent too shallow on OLB. Another guy I would like to do this with would be DT Adrian Taylor out of Oklahoma. He'll be an UDFA because of his injuries but if he managed to stay healthy the last 2 years he could very well have been a 1st or 2nd round pick. If we could put him IR for a year and then coach him up he could be a good replacement for some out our aging DL.

    No Jersey Selected

I doubt Romeus falls too far. Other teams will take a chance with a mid round pick on him just hoping he pans out.

What is the verdict on Weston??
Did we get him in a low round due to injury?
Selected in a low round because he is "just another guy"?
    A player with potential?

I really like Kade Weston and I have really high hopes for him. I think he the reason he fell in the draft was a combination of injury and lack of production. He was a highly regarded recruit when he went to Georgia but he never really lived up to the expectations because of injuries. Plus he was overshadowed by his teammate Geno Atkins which I think hurt his draft stock. I think the key for Weston is staying healthy. If he can do that I think he can be a very good player in the NFL, and he seems to be the prototypical DE for the Pats. I think he defititely has some potential but whether he lives up to that potential is the question.

Depending on the board at the time, I tend to agree. Romeus is going to need an injury redshirt year like Tate, but the Patriots have a deep enough roster to take that kind of calculated long-term gamble.

Romeus' rehab is way ahead of schedule. I wouldn't be surprised to see him ready to go for an NFL team Week 1.

I'm on board, as well. I absolutely love the kid's potential as an Edge Setting AND Pass Rushing Left Flanker. Ricky Sapp dropped to the 5th Round, last year, and I'm feeling like that's about right for Greg Romeus, though of course he could go anywhere from the 2nd Round to the 8th!! The back issue IS a big concern, of course, but the upside is SO immense, that it would EASILY be worth the small investment to ice him on IR for a year while he strengthens back up.

Justin Houston has officially declared, so that's an extra flanker in the mix which could potentially drop Romeus' value.

He has a higher ceiling than his draft stock would suggest. I think he has the potential to be a space eater who is stout against the run, ala Ty Warren. He was taking snaps at NT during pre-season so he could be useful depth for the team. I am bullish on his prospects.
