Re: Greg Cosell:With Cassel at QB, Pats have below-average offense

Greg Cosell can see it.

I agree 100%

Look at points scored.

This offense aint getting any better either until next year.

would rather see KO get some playing experience

Re: Greg Cosell:With Cassel at QB, Pats have below-average offense

i think his comment on our running game is telling..

Why haven't the Patriots taken the pressure off Cassel by featuring the ground game? The answer is simple: The Patriots cannot run the ball. They do not have a back on their roster capable of providing any consistency in a committed running game.

Laurence Maroney, when not injured, has been a tentative runner who does not reliably attack the line of scrimmage.

Maroney is rarely decisive hitting the hole, and he has shown a strong tendency to stop his feet in the backfield. I can't tell you how many times I've been frustrated watching him abandon a clear lane at the point of attack to bounce outside. That's college running, and it doesn't work in the NFL.

Re: Greg Cosell:With Cassel at QB, Pats have below-average offense

BREAKING NEWS: Matt Cassel is not as good as Tom Brady.

After intensive research and analysis we can conclude that Matt Cassel after 5 games is not as good of a QB as 4 time pro-bowl, 2 time SB MVP almost certain first ballot HOF QB Thomas Edward Patrick Brady.

Shocking as this may seem to some, an offense led by Matt Cassel is not as powerful as one led by last years league MVP and holder of the record for single season TDs.

Re: Greg Cosell:With Cassel at QB, Pats have below-average offense

No running game........

No blocking from the "O" line.....

But, Cassel sucks and we should go with KO???

Help me to understand??

Re: Greg Cosell:With Cassel at QB, Pats have below-average offense

the lack of a running game is what is hurting the pats.otherwise with an avg QB and a decent running game you can win decent amount of games.

Re: Greg Cosell:With Cassel at QB, Pats have below-average offense

Happy to spell it out for you-

Cassell, no pocket presence, immobile, not sharp, wilts under pressure, average arm combined with a crappy Oline this is disaster

KO- quick, can move around, good pocket presence, rocket arm, exciting

shouldn't the rest of this year be spent developing KO and give the fans some excitement and something to cheer for

how do you know KO can do all those ? based on pre season ? you think he can come in and execute the spread offense , set protections and all right away ? esp when we dont have a running game ? with cassel our offense is bad but the playbook isnt limited. With KO it is even more limited without a running game and bad o line. he will be eaten alive in the league.
its always exciting to wonder what the unknown is. If ko comes this early in the season and sucks worse right way, what do you do next ?

This thread is a perfect example of a guy who knows his stuff, breaking down the pats issues and ( backing up his statements with film study and examples)...yet, guys like you come in and belittle the man, and make it seem like what he said was inaccurate or obvious. Pretty sure that article was very well written, and much more in depth than anything you would be capable of.

Please stop being a total homer.

How do you know he can't? Why not give him a shot, and see what happens. Let him play a half, and see what he can do. You're making claims based on your opinion and not fact.....KO might be smart enough to make it happens for us.

This of course is somehow wrong while...

Folks like you who claimed based on seeing KC in a pre-season game you know more than Bill Belichick about who should be playing QB are in the right?

this is not BB's way. it is what makes him great yet stubborn at times that he is going to stick with his guy and give him a chance.

Like it or not we will see Cassel at QB unless it's bad like the SD game for like a 3-4 game losing streak.

We know he can't because NEWSFLASH!!! BB and the coaches watch KO all summer and each week. Were KO to impress BB (Brady style) he'd be eased into the lineup. He has failed to show those very attributes you fantisize he has. Therefore he sits on the pine.

Next stupid question...

and if you do that you are basically telling the rest of the team, we are done after 5 games and everything else is working fine just the QB isnt. and after 5 games if KO sucks you basically tank the season after 6 games. the guy is a rookie with no running game and defense to lean on.Letting him play a half and then trying it out isnt the right thing at this time in the season .because then you let cassel regress further in whatever confidence he is trying to build.
last yr, our offense masked a lot of defensive issues.they HAD to be great at times to help this defense - aj feely, boller, garrard had great success against our defense.they just couldnt keep up with the historic offense. any less from our offense wouldve resulted in different results.
you are right - iam making claims based on opinion. But look at all the rookie QBS now playing, flacco, matt ryan etc. they have suffiicient help elsewhere like a good D in Balt and a good RB in altanta. We have either of this, can help any of our QBs

well..we all know cassel isnt too good. but sometimes it helps to understand -at least for me -what is the technical detail about our struggles instead of 100 'matt cassel sucks' threads.

Show me that claim; I never made it.

Could hey have started Brady sooner than the Bledsoe injury? I said I wanted to give KO a shot for a half, yet you claim I am fantasizing about the kids skills. Funny how you act as if you know what Beli and co are thinking, you must know him, ha-ha.

So, you take the analysis of an NFL films / Sporting News guy over Bill Belichick?? Yeesh...

I said give the kid a shot for a half. Pretty sure that's not tanking the season.

No, I said it was a legit article as to why Cassel is a bad NFL qb. I then pointed out how the homers dismiss the article as nonsense ( when it clearly was well written and backed up by facts and solid opinions).
