I read this quote in Time from Thomas Friedman in the New York Times: Thought it was excellent.
It is a great quote, I agree. And it's also why I believe a recession is just what we needed/deserved to reset our priorities...i.e. Back to basics.
I will only add that the Baby Boomer generation can't change direction... it will be my generation to fix this.
It's funny, becuase last night I was talking with my Wife, and I said
Through out all my friends and social circles, we are exhausted. We are all working 50-60 hours a week on salary, just to keep up the work load since work forces have been dramatically reduced. We all work on weekends and at night trying to keep up, and there is no more money, no more time, and the end result is we just have to keep working at a socially destructive pace in order to just keep our jobs.
Another dip would be devastating I believe. We already have 10% unemployment, and if we dip again, even more will lose their jobs, and those who are still employed will be working 60-70 hours a week for the same pay.
