The problem with virtually all of these "questions" is that they are not questions. They are expressions of anger with question marks at the end. And, whatever you think of Goddell, I'm sure he is pretty adept at dealing with what he perceives as fanboy rants.

If I were going to ask a spygate question it would simple: "If the Patriots had made the very same video tape as they were punished for, but did it from the front row of the stands not the sideline, would it have been against the rules?"

If he says yes and you have a follow up: Can you cite me the rule?

If he says no and you have a follow up: Can you say that on the record so that the Patriots stop taking so much misinformed abuse in the press even three plus years later?

yeah...uh...I'm no "boy"...give me five minutes alone with this popcorn gangster and I'll have a signed confession admitting a string of RICO violations.

the only question I'd ask this mutt if I was at this meeting is "who the F do you think you are kidding?"

Contrary to your opinion, the question regarding the clear lack of penalizing the Jets is hardly a "Fanboy rant". Your questions is no more worthy than that one and could also be deemed a "fanboy rant".

Great news Tune! Can't wait to read about your experience! Make sure you don't get yourself thrown out! Did they say anything about screening questions?

I didn't say they were fanboy rants. Read my post again. I gave my guess about how he will likely perceive certain questions. If what you want is a snicker and a "tough crowd" joke, then fine.

As for worthiness, that's in the eye of the beholder. If the desire is to vent, angry proclimations that are loaded to suggest he's corrupt or biased with question marks on the end are fine. If they will make the questioner feel good, that's reason enough to do it. These are season ticket holders right? They've paid for their tickets, they should do what makes them feel good.

If the question is to give one's self the best chance of engaging or convincing him, these are not good "questions."

Do we even know for a fact that they are simply going to take questions from the audience anyway? Aren't most of these things situations where you submit your question on an index card and a moderator chooses them? I'd definitely have a question in reserve for that kind of format.

Could you ask him if he works at being an ass or does it come naturaly

I like the question along the lines of “I am trying to understand exactly which NFL rule the Patriots broke in 2007. Was it that they filmed defensive signals or where they filmed them from? I had thought it was where they filmed them from and have never seen a rule that expressly forbade filming. Thank you,"

I think these are pretty easily sidestepped. For the first he simply says "No, the videotaping of defensive from anywhere is prohibited." and then to your follow up question he'll say. "I just did, next question." He is not going to be able to cite chapter and verse from the rule book and technical questions are just going to get a general response.

"If the Patriots had made the very same signal video tape as they were punished for, but did it from a prescribed area not the sideline, would it have been against the rules, and if so please cite me the specific rule?"

Very good question.

As much as I fantasize over many of the excellent and fun questions suggested here, many are of the form, "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?"

Forget the 18 game issue as it will be asked by legions and don't challenge HIS rep by insinuating he favors the Jets (though he does) but focus on the important Pats reputation question as modified above.

Nice question

If I was there,(which could never happen,BTW) I'd ask him..

"Uh...Commissioner Goodell...one simple question for my edification...in 1977 when you were a senior three sport star at Bronxville high school in Eastchester, NY, you and three friends?/family members? were escorted out of your family box at the Meadowlands, during the Jets 30-27 win over the Patriots...there are reports that security acted on complaints of rowdy and abusive conduct directed at fans of the opposition sitting below your box. Care to address the reason for stadium security's actions and also the eventual outcome of this incident ...seeing as how there is only the security report left in hard copy...subsequent followup reports have either been lost or destroyed. Care to comment on that, Commissioner Goodell?"

Don't ask him about spygate. Don't ask him about thighgate.

Do the opposite. Ask him an softball innocuous questions that he will want to take and will enjoy answering and will respond favorably.

Ask him,

"Mr Godell, I am wondering how you got your start. Did you start by working for the NFL or one of the teams and what was your first football job like?"

Make it as inocent as possible with no hint whatsoever you know his first job was with the Jets.

Here is why you are asking that question. The media will be there. His answer will be him talking fondly about the Jets. The exact answer doesn't matter. But him talking about his first job at the Jets gives the reporters (some of whom are already on the Jets are getting favorable treatment idea) a reason to write about and expose his bias.

Haha...nice and sneaky. kudos

This all fine and dandy BUT...c'mon...let's be serious here...even though no one wants to say it, it's obvious what's going on...Goodell KNOWS how acrimonious the relationship is with our fanbase...he's obviously reached out to Krafty Bob, who is considered one of the NFL owner lions, and asked for some P.R. relief. Does anyone actually think Bob Kraft, former big time Pats fan, now owner, hasn't heard and doesn't hear the Patriot fans voice day in and out? Doesn't hear how unhappy, how angry, how betrayed, and how hardened toward the Omissioner we've become? Of course he does. The NFL needs a thriving franchise and a loyal, dedicated fanbase in the six state region. It's just good business...and after all, bottom line this IS big business.

Nah, we can think whatever we want but I think we all know this is going to be a dog and pony show.

As was pointed out repeatedly earlier in this thread, we shouldn't expect anything but staid answers to any question. You might as well let it rip with the expressions of anger, but respectfully, by obeying the rules of order for this meeting (phrase it as a question and be only slightly indirect about your point).

seriously, simply ask him if the patriots were taping from the stands would it be OK with the NFL?

I would personally pay money to hear him answer this question honestly.

How about this question?

"The media reported sanctions imposed by the New York Jets on Sal Alosi stemming from the tripping incident that was shown and commented on by the announcers in the recent Miami Dolphins - New York Jets game last Sunday. I have never heard of a team being allowed to investigate and punish itself for an incident of breaking league rules. Was this option available to the Patriots when they were accused of illegal taping and if it wasn't, why not? What is the criteria that is used to determine when a team is allowed to investigate and discipline themselves and when that option is not available to a team?"

Question for all of you who want Goodell grilled with questions regarding spygate, etc:

Are you going to be happy when the 25 newspapers/blogs run a story on how NEP fans are a bunch of whinny brats and repeated publication defending why a 1st round pick and a large fine was justified. Because that will be the end result of such a question.

Ask him about spygate. And the news story will be spygate.

Ask him about thieghgate and the news story will be pats fans whining.

Ask him the question I suggested about his start and the news story will be that he was a Jet.

Please don't embarass the fan base.
