According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Reps. Anh “Joseph” Cao of Louisiana and Ron Paul of Texas have joined Rep. Don Young (AK) in requesting earmarks for the 2011 fiscal year, despite a House Republican caucus vote this month to institute a moratorium on earmarks for one year.

Those members’ committee assignments could be on the line, according to a spokesman for House Minority Leader John Boehner.

“The Leaders expect all House Republican members to comply with the moratorium,” the spokesman, Michael Steel, said in an email. “There will be situations where we have some confusion on how these rules are implemented, but if Members are deliberately breaking the rules, it will be a serious matter and one that the Steering Committee will consider.”

Paul was linked to the Hurattee(sp) group that got arrested this week.. to most he is relatively benign, but to those who want to listen to his stuff as meaning something else he can be dangerous..

Remember playing the Beatles song backwards, Paul is dead, never got that one.. nor did I get "Helter Skelter"... but many did.

How was Paul Linked to that group?

By that same logic, Family Guy, was also linked to to that militia group as that is a TV show they watched. As well Sarah Palin was linked via their listening to her...

Do you think Ron Paul is dangerous? How can anyone think that? Anyone can listen to anyone's speeches and pull out whatever they wish. We've seen how left-wing groups have pulled out that he is racist. Right-wing groups can pull out that he want's some kind of insurrection...and everything in between. Same can be said for Obama and Bush.

Dangerous in that he points out how wrong-headed our government is? That the military is way too expansive? That the IRS should be abolished? That the police and the domestic forces overstep their bounds routinely? That our trade deficit and destruction of the currency is the result of anti-American trade agreements? That the drug "war" is a waste?

Oh, he's dangerous, alright. He's dangerous to the status quo and people who like it.

Not saying it is true or not, but he name comes up in a lot of the right wing rhetoric that is all.. just some anecdotal information.. it seems after any and every right with extreme episode his name comes up.. maybe the thought police want me to think this way???..

If you read the post and my reference to the Beatles Helter Skelter Reference.. listened often and did not get any messages that I should try to start a race war.. if you try hard enough you can something from just about anyone..

Indeed. He's not perfect, but I have appreciated his point of view on a number of issues. It is unfortunate that he is likely too old to have an impact for too much longer. America needs dissenting voices in high places.
