Correct me if I'm wrong but it's October 2011 right? Why the outright hatred for gay people by most of the GOP field?

Santorum and Bachmann are leading the charge while the rest of the candidates haven't exactly distanced themselves from this.

Santorum double downed today when he said sodomy should be illegal. Does he know that sodomy is practiced by heterosexuals?

"HI, When I'm not doing meth with male hookers, I'm telling you how much I hate the Gays!"

(BTW: Bachmann's husband is about as straight as the stripe on Charlie Brown's shirt)

I'd like to hear Santorum make that case.

    "Small government" indeed...

when a finger is pointing away, there are three fingers pointing back. Nahmean?

The GOP also loves to continue talking in circles to keep their mis-informed base in check. So we get things like....

"We want less government in our lives"
"we want the governemnet to meddle in things like abortion, assisted suicide, and being gay"

Jon Huntsman for President 2012: Candidate

Of course this probably means that he won't get the nomination...:bricks:

OT: But he is the most level headed republican candidate, and if the GOP was serious about winning, and possibly pulling away some democrats...they'd be pushing this guy...

    but they ain't

OOT: Doesn't Hunsman look a lot like ESPN's Colin Cowherd?

I like Huntsman. Unfortunately for him he is a Mormon and a guy who doesn't want social issues to define his campaign. That means he is doomed to be the GOP candidate.

Who am I? Obama's regulations and tax policies are killing the job creators. I want to cut taxes for the "job creators" as that would create jobs.

How about you clowns focus on creating jobs and not on trying to make sodomy a crime or hating gay people.

The word "sodomy" - like just about every other word in the dictionary - has multiple meanings. It can be used to refer to certain sexual activities regardless of gender and it also can be used to refer exclusively to homosexual activities.

Context is almost as important in determining what a word means as the word itself, and I'm guessing by the context of the statement, it is referring to homosexual acts.

Sadly it garners them votes in the election. I bet half of them don't passionately care about it. The fact that it is worthy of significant votes tells how behind we are in equality in this country.

I hate to be the one to point it out but if a word has multiple meanings it can't be used exculsively.

Because if you control people's sex lives, you control the people. It's a concept dating back to the Middle Ages.

And there you have it folks. The world's most perfect woman who never ever makes a spelling or grammar mistake ("exculsively") once again has to weigh in. But don't be too hard on her; she's simply the type of know-it-all who just can't help herself. In fact, you could almost consider her a spelling/grammar you-know-what.

Most definitions don't refer exclusively to homosexual acts.

But if that's what he means, he should come out and say it. It's clear he's a homophobe, so why wouldn't he just come right out and court the bigot vote as aggressively as possible?

Either way, it's not something that's in any way defensible, and is completely at odds with the notion of "small government." Not that he or most pubbies actually care about that.

(Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if he does in fact want to ban sodomy among heterosexuals, as well.)

because the GOP is the ultra religious party, and ultra religious people hate the gay lifestyle

the GOP knows they'll get the most votes in their party if they pander to that fear

they know some republicans act like they don't hate, but when it comes time to vote, they know people in the GOP won't vote pro gay candidates

With statements such as "because the GOP is the ultra religious party, and ultra religious people hate the gay lifestyle" it sure seems that the only one pandering to fear is you. Shame you can't see the irony of your own statements.
