She has more spine than the rest of the pubbies in congress put together.

Those rosey rightie glasses again, everything that has been said about Palin has been said 10 fold about Clinton... Chelsea chose not to get pregnant, and was not used a prop in an election.. there are huge differences.. see Pants Suit Hillary, Billy Blue Dress.. yada yada yada..

Really which national comedians made these comments about the Chelsea? an example or two would do. I recall her being sloppy drunk in a NYC bar (paparatzzi took some pics that made the tabloids) don't recall her stuff becoming national news especially after her partent left the national stage. Palin is after just the govenor of a small state. Even though she scares lefties to death.

Its cute how the RW spin machine is working overtime to make sure everyone KNOWS it was the 14 yr old Willow that Dave was speaking of and not the 19 yr old Bristol that we've all already heard of in a context that's very much applicable to what Dave was talking about.

I'm all for painting Yankees as child molesters or other nefarious characters. In fact I happen to be a charter member of the Joba is a piece of trailer park, Meth-sniffing trash fan society, but c'mon now, Arod is a doper who can't hit when it counts, not a pedophile. Cano's clearly the pedophile.

The reason is simple she was not used as a prop to get elected and chose not to get pregnant.. have to put it into perspective here, mom is a gun toting, bible thumping rightie.. and her daughter is cast onto the national stage pregnant?? Why flaunt it?? minimize the potential embarassment.. you reap what you sow. Media relations 101 would tell you not to use your kids as props...

WTF do you expect in this world, this shyt happens all the time.. as long as choices are made to listen to the mediots on both side of the aisle it will continue ad infinitum.

I don't watch Letterman, but the Palin's certainly did all they can to exploit their 19 year old daughter and her baby. If they wanted privacy, they should have acted like they wanted privacy. Also, the fact is our society has become more perverse and voyeuristic. The age of conservativism brought with it sadistic reality shows and sensationalism at the expense of privacy. Fox deserves a lot of credit for that.

That said, the media for the most part respected Chelsea and Bush twins because they weren't dragged into the public limelight by their ambitious parents. Palin is a terrible mother, but when the far right of the Republican Party goes searching for leaders other than white men, they're forced to choose among low intelligence goofballs like Palin, Steele, and the like.

None of those rules go for Palin, they see a big threat with her in the future and they are out to completely destroy her, her family and her dog, I used to like Letterman but he's turned into a Creep.

Palin is getting a lot of "sympathy publicity" out of it, if she runs for anything in the future she will drive those Dingobats insane, I'd love to see her run against Pant Suit.

Right on Real World, this story is everywhere today. I actually don't care that Letterman did the joke at all. No big deal, it's a joke. But I don't really think that if Palin was a Democrat, however, he would have made that joke. But a joke is a joke, and he wanted cheap laughs.

I just heard a clip of his apology, and the it's "just a joke" apology is the route he went.

I wonder how many people with daughters think it's a joke even if their daughters are sluts.

In the world of the Far Left Wing Democrats "Sluts Are Cool"

Palin handled it right, she smiled and said "Lettermans Pathetic"

I love the people who say her teenage daughter is fair game cuz she was a prop. I saw Obama on stage with his 2 daughters "talking to daddy" at the convention, so does that make them a prop too? Kids are kids, and they should be left out of the fray. Furthermore, it's one thing to talk about one's child, or criticize an aspect of her life, but to say she got knocked up like Letterman did, is discipable. People can say anything they want. It's a free country. The fact that you can say anything you want, doesn't mean you should.

I agree with you. I think the media attention on candidates families keeps the best Americans from running for office, especially the highest ones. That's one of the reasons that I have very little respect for politicians who fail to keep the media away from their kids. Palin and Obama both used their kids as props. If we're keeping score, though, Palin and her family were the worst "offenders" in this area I have ever seen. And it continues still.

YouTube - Introducing Baby Tripp ! | Bristol & Sarah Palin ON THE RECORD | Greta | FOX NEWS

Why Bristol went on Greta is beyond me. And notice how Grandma sticks her head into the interview "by surprise" as if she literally can't control herself from being in the spotlight. Comparing Bristol to Obama's kids (I don't even know their names off the top of my head) is apples and oranges, IMO.

I do not disagree, and there is need for clarification.. there was a comparison as to why Chelsea was not criticized as much as Bristol.. first of all Bill never proposed to be a moral vanguard and she faded into the limelight.. Sarah bills herself as a moral lightning rod and put her daughter out there and left her there as a prop for her campaign.. Sarah has not faded into the woodwork.. she and mom put themselves out there all the time.

The kids should be off limits.. none of this is justified

How about she went on to tell her story so others won't find themselves in the same situation in their lives? Sure it keeps her in the spotlight and opens her up to criticism and attacks but that doesn't mean she deserves them……not even if you challenge her motives. This kind of hurtful demeaning attacks by Letterman exposes him as a partisan hack that puts his politics above civility. He faked an apology and it fell way short. He acted like he was sorry it wasn't funny not that he was sorry he was hurtful. He's very talented but he's become just another idiot with an agenda and I won't watch him anymore.

I agree about Letterman. I think I've seen him maybe 5 times in my life.

I don't really care why she went on. She doesn't seem too swift to me, but she doesn't need to impress me. If I were giving her advice (that is, if I were her father), I'd tell her to get out of politics and the media, get back to school, and take care of your child. I wonder why she did those interviews. It's gonna be real hard for her to have a life resembling what she hoped for. I hope she does well because she seems like a nice kid who just happens to have a douchebag for a mother. BTW, gotta laugh when anyone calls a pregnancy a "mistake" (Ooops! I accidentally had unsafe sex and now I'm pregnant somehow!).

I agree. Evidently, he made an apology on his show last night. Palin, through her spokesperson declined to accept the apology. I understand why, and I probably would have done the same if I were in her situation.

He should just go in another direction. His show was groundbreaking and hilarious in the 1980's, but he has gotten comfortable and lazy doing repetitve and tired schtick since then.

I saw it. His so called apology went something like this: "Do I regret telling the joke? I think probably I do. I've regretted thousands of jokes I've told on the air (he was attempting to get a laugh and got some)".

So he didn't say he was sorry to Palin for saying she was in New York to shop for slutty stewardess cloths. He didn't say he was sorry for Bristol or Willow (who was the daughter at the game) at all. He even suggested that it was kind of ok because Bristol was target and she was 18 after all (as if raping an 18 year old or calling an 18 year old promiscuous is ok) He did go on to say that he wouldn't advocate raping or having sex with a minor like he was now being some kind of moral hero. Then he invited them in his show. I don't blame Palin for not accepting that because it was not an apology in any way shape or form as far as I'm concerned.

He never said sorry. Only that he "regrets" making the joke. He only regrets it cuz people have responded so negatively to it. Check out how condescending he is.

BTW, she was in NY with her 14 year old daughter.
