So the government spends billions of our tax dollars to prevent GM from failing.

    GM fails anyway.

Now the government will own 70% of GM.

We need to start a poll, who here will buy a GM (government motors) vehicle in a couple years?

Hummer, Saturn, & Pontiac will be gone.

Funny thing when you look at the total carbon footprint inc manf use and disposal, the Prius has a bigger carbon footprint than a H3...:)

Can't blame Obama per se this has been in porcess ofr 30 years, Bad MAnagement decisions and Bad Contracts with unions.

You can blame Obama for continuing to bail out GM and other obviously failing businesses, as ljuneau points out. They should have been forced to file before they raped us for those billions. Failure on Congress and Obama's part.

Got a link to that carbon fiootprint comparison? I was wondering about that, myself.

Too bad about Saturn. They had some pretty cool cars.

    GONE.......

I'll try to dig up the link and post it tonight, I found it pretty funny. I will fault Obama for continuing the bailouts of both Chrysler and GM, Bush should have let them go bankrupt last fall. Obama s stiffing the secured bondholders to satisfy the Unions which is a horrible prescident. I will try to dig up an article about why it is so bad and will hurt businesses overall.

I hope that even though Pontiac will no longer be around, that someone keeps making the "Fiero"

    http://www.mis.ne.jp/~akr/Pages/nextpage/cars/autos/fiero.jpg

according to everything I've ever learned in life, this car "Can't be stopped"....

I guess we will find out soon what is stronger, The immovable object , or the unstoppable force.

BTW: BOTH qualify as definitions of the "Fiero" in my book.

Don't forget about Obama saving 150000 jobs while we lost million jobs. What a huge saving!:D

Perhaps, spending 1T dollars was not enough.Obama shows you what he could do with 1T dollars:rolleyes:

Saturn's looking for buyers. May survive, may not.

Chapter 11 is not Chapter 7 (Liquidation.) The question is whether "Newco" will be viable after "Oldco" is saddled with the debt. Of course, since we're going to have Weimar-style inflation , it hardly matters.

I believe Chrysler has exited or is about to exit Chapter 11. The question was whether a bankruptcy could happen in 60 days. The answer seems to be (in Chrysler's case,) yes. 30 in fact. All the Wall Streeters were saying it couldn't be done, and in fact, it could. Obviously Obama used more muscle than they expected.

GM's bigger and there's more to it. We're not looking at another 30-dayer. But I think this one goes quickly as well (60-90 on the outside... I would think more like 45.)

By the way, although everything I read says GM goes Chapter 11, I have not read yet that they have announced it.

All that said: Yep, Obama aimed to avoid banruptcy for either company. Didn't happen. You can pop the champagne!

Are you talking about the military version or the civilian version? The military version is made by a completely different manufacturer(AM General)...it will still be in production as long as the military keeps buying them.

US Taxpayers and the Secured Bondholders will take it in the throat. The Unions will get the good bits.

'Secured' Bondholders get mugged, UAW get payoff...

Wall St didn't realize Obama would break the law is screwinf the secured bondholders, get job by the Obama gang.

No Obama aimed to take care of his political supporters the UAW and that he did. In a way that will damage American business over the long haul.
