Nice little article on the guy who puts the "erio" in Belerio.

That was a nice read...Interesting that McDaniels referred him. And really interesting the way BB swapped him between the front office and coaching, one would have to believe that gives him a better understanding of what talent to scout.

We are getting OLD in that area I think we need youth rather than a 32 year old reciever. :D

He spent a year as the WR Coach and he also spent time as an "offensive coaching assistant where he actually took reps as a RB in several practices to help the tea out.

His background is in offense, I hope it doesn't cloud his judgment especially since we should go defense the next few years with top picks.

Scott Pioli was a college DT, and I don't think that hindered his ability to evaluate QBs. . . .

I think we'll be OK, we have someone else in the front office who's looked at a few defensive players in his time.

Caserio has been responsible for pro player personnel and the director of player personnel since February. Obviously, he has been responsible for judging both offensive and defensive players.

Are you suggesting a team executive that might also serve a dual role as a running back on the shadow roster given the injuries at that position? I've got to tell you, DaBruinz, that represents a practice easily fitting the definition of both progressive and a little old school. I'm liking this guy already.:)

I haven't seen anything official from the Pats on Caserio getting the VP role, maybe he stays at his current position with a bump in pay of course and fills Pioli's role. Thoughts?? It's my understanding that there is more than double pay difference from Caserio's position to Pioli's new position.

Is anyone else a bit dismayed that the Pats front office is younger than the linebacking corps?

At least 5 years or so, after earning at least two "NFL executive of the year" awards for stocking the roster with young and very talented players, especially at LB and DB.

    I wish.

At the rate things are going, in the next five years, I half expect a team to ask for permission to interview the Patriots' ball boys for their GM position. :D:(

The guy can play running back and run the front office? I knew Belichick liked them versatile but even this is ridiculous. ;)

That extended to his days at John Carroll, where he beat out McDaniels at quarterback, leading the coaches to move McDaniels to receiver.

Josh McDaniels at receiver? John Carroll must have been a juggernaut. ;)

I see no reason to change Caserio's title. He is Director of Player Personnel. I think the VP position was created for Pioli. The open question is the nature of Caserio's new resonsibilties. For example, what new folks are reporting to him? For example, what folks does he know having hiring and firing responsibilities, as opposed to before? Who makes the draft decisions? Do thye require agreements as before?

Caserio was just brought into this role in February, likely with Pioli's possible leaving in mind. Yes, I would expect some increase in pay. I don't see Caserio sharing responsibilities with Belichick as Pioli did. I expect even more deference to Belichick that was the case with Pioli.

It was strange to have the Coach not report to the VP. I believe that when Jonathan was VP, his title was VP of Football Operations, and the coach reported to him. I believe Parcells has that title for the phins with the GM and the coach reporting up through him.

I really don't know why Reiss wrote that.

In a situation like this, someone that takes over the responsibilities would not automatically take on the more experienced person's salary. Especially if you're a junior person, you have to earn your way into the position by proving it.

I see this happen in my line of business a lot. People prove themselves, and then management promotes them. it would be stupid not to because people are always on the lookout for talent, and if a guy is producing at a low wage, he'll get plucked away.

This really isn't a matter of keeping costs down.
