Fine but this isn't about the Middle East any more than it's about Viagra. It's about military spending. Do you want the capability to save lives somewhere 5 years from now if/when a horrific event occurs. If your answer is no then by all means slash the military. If your answer is yes then we need to maintain the capability.

I still think the military could be cut by 40% if it was done so with efficiency in mind, the building of subs borders on stupid.. that along with the industrialists inflating the dollar. I have no problem with a strong, professional, well paid military.. I have a problem with a bloated military that is not ready to respond.

I stated rwanda as one example, there's plenty of genocide type warfare thats happened where the U.S. has not intervened...My opinion is ,it all comes down to money, resources and power...

Hitler was seeking control of oil..

It's a violent greedy world that we live on.

And with the statement that rudy made about clinton cutting military spending.... Im sure we still led all of the nations combined on military spending...

Well, whatever. We can't defend people, countries, oil, take your pick if we look inward only on defense. If that's your preference, great, but think about all the repercussions before you decide that's your position.

For instance, when the iraq war rational ''wmd'' turned out to be a sham, the new rational was were bringing salvation to these poor people in political debates...When the debate was lost due to no wmd, therefore what was the rational for the iraq war? It changed to were saving the iraqi citizens from a brutal dictator....

Do I think that the iraq war supporters really cared about iraqi lives. No!

Do I think that the iraq war protesters really cared about iraqi lives. No!

It was just a comparison.....This thread is more or less my guy is better than your guy....And I was just delving into the human psyche a bit...

Remember in gulf war 1, when cheney thanked reagan for the military, after a swift defeat over the iraq army...

In gulf 2 you had the same swift outcome on the battlefield.....I,m positive cheney didn't thank clinton for that:D

The question is "do we want the capability to enforce our will as needed ?". If so we can't significantly reduce the military. If not we can.

I'm asking the question. No-one wants to answer it. Yes, I am a fiscal conservative; once we achieve energy independence I would be fine with looking inward militarily. Until then we have no choice but to be able to fight for the oil we need IMO. Without oil, we pretty much shut down.

    I'll answer that.
We do not want the capacity to enforce our will abroad. It's not an American instinct to meddle in other people's business. The modern corporate government and it's henchmen, the media, have put out the lie that we need to project our power globally. We actually need to project ourselves diplomatically and through trade. We need only to respond militarily quickly to protect American citizens abroad...that's all. The Chinese know this well. They understand that trade is the way to secure their peace and prosperity without military meddling. This is not a new or radical concept. The new and radical concept is waging war without provocation.

Thats what Bush thinks also, he has always said "it's better to fight them over there than on America's streets where our women and children will also die.

No matter who the President is and no matter how much the democrats suck up to them Ql Queda isn't finished with us yet.

    Remember This:
    "Praise Allah Death To America"

Hillary or Obama are going to be forced to fight, do the American people think they are up to it?

The military budget while under clinton was more than enough to annihilate any conventional or nuclear threat to the U.S.....

As for what your strategizing, pillaging countries for their oil, is unconstittutional...This decade we are definately witnessing constitution smonstitution...The constitution Jeez it's just a piece of paper.

What Clinton did with the military seven years ago is more relevant than what Bush is doing with it today?

How can what the military's been doing these past four years not be relevant to its current capability?

The Constitution Wasn't Written To Protect America's Enemy's

The Constitution Wasn't Written To Protect 12 Million Criminal Aliens Who Entered America As Lawbreakers And Who Are Not Citizens

The Constitution WAS WRITTEN To Protect "American Citizens"

When the constitution was written there were no Airplanes To Crash Into Buildings, there were No Muslims With Bombs Trying To Kill Our Children, There Were No Phones To Tap and Our Country Wasn't Full Of Ungrateful Anti American Left Wing Bastards

Left Wing Socialists Have Been Known To Say "If They Don't Like A Law, Change It"
Maybe It's Time To Change A Few Things In The Horse And Buggy Constitution

I know. That's what I've been saying. I just want YOU to say that you're OK with mass genocides while we stand idly by if we draw down to the point that we can fully defend ourselves and no more. I'm not saying I disagree with it but I want acknowledgment from your side about what you're advocating.

The military we have today is more than adequate...

Now say giuliani becomes president, we will still be in afghanistan and iraq, and he decides to regime change iran....Thats when he should address the nation and state his goals and re-enact the draft and institute a war tax to help pay for his decisions...

Unfortunately this country is not going to volunteer, go on metal and rubber drives, conserve fuel like they did in WWII due to mandatory fuel rationing...

In early part of the iraq invasion, we were told to go SHOPPING, and when a bill was introduced to congress to enact more fuel efficient cars, it was rejected....

I do not advocate policing the world and I know this country deals with other corrupt and brutal dictatators allways has and allways will...
