    Hey guys,
I'm a displaced New Englander, so I don't have the knowledge of Gillette stadium that I assume many here do, so please indulge my thoughts & questions.

Is the acoustical design of the stadium really that bad, or are Pats fans really that quiet?
Are the stands designed so that it doesn't feel like the fans are that close to the field like In Seattle or the Meadowlands?

If the fans are just too quiet, that will hopefully be remedied in the playoffs, but if it's a design issue, what do you guys think of it?

After seeing & hearing what Seattle sounds like on tv, I'm amazed.
The Meadowlands also seems like a noisy, rowdy stadium.
Indy's new dome appears to have been built extremely vertically, and will probably feel like the fans are on top of opposing teams.

I know Gillette is a jewel in terms of an overall entertainment facility, but what are your thoughts from a home field advantage perspective?

Part of the problem is that it is wide open on one end of the field, and somewhat open on the other, allowing noise to escape easily.

This topic has been debated about 100x now. If you search for threads with the topic "crowd noise" I'm sure you'll find a few of them.

My take on it... As BB would say, "It is what it is."

It was pretty loud when I was there for the Chicago game last year. This young man will be doing his best to make sure it is loud on 1-20* for the last home game of the year. It is what it is. When it needs to be loud, it will be loud.

The acoustics did suck there. Problem seemed to be there were not a lot of speakers near us, in the third tier. So you had no idea what the refs were saying for instance. (Think of Sullivan stadium with two larger loudspeakers at either end!)

The views were awesome. It felt like the Fleet Center or whatever we call the Garden now. An arena stadium, in tight to the field, going striaght up. The seats were all out over the field, in a way that is much better than The Razor (i'm sorry).

There problem is they have about 8 rows of club, and no real luxury boxes. So its a tear down. I am sure the new stadium will stick it to the 3rd tier seats, and move them a mile away from the field to fit all the new pricey sh!t in there.

I've been to Dolphin Stadium, Heinz Field, RCA Dome, Ford Field, Soldier Field, Paul Brown Stadium, and Gillette. Throwing the domes out, Heinz Field was probably the loudest (although it being the AFCCG could have something to do with it) then Gillette. I don't think the acoustics are an issue. In the lighthouse end there is the opening where the bridge is at, but Heinz opens up where the river is at as well. Soldier Field is basically all enclosed and probably has the best non-dome acoustics.

**Boston is a beautiful place to visit in January. I'm sure I will enjoy museums and other cultural experiences on my trip.
